PCMW, to my knowledge, has been working on a beta BIOS.

Only Clevo themselves and Kobalt has been testing Penryn's.

From where? Also, did you get any detail on the apparent 4GB RAM problem?

I just downloaded this and I strongly advise against using this BIOS. Though the download/folder is named 16a the actual WPH file is 16 - it's been around for a while and, well it doesn't exactly work well...........

    Btw who is Igor Pavlov?

All this talk is still pointless.
Name at least 10 programs that fully utilise dual cores nowadays, let alone quads.
    Damn programmers are slacking off.

If you're talking about games using 4 cores then yup, lack of support still really makes Quad Core CPUs a future proof purchase.

If you're using a 901C for something like a mobile recording studio then the more cores the merrier :)

Wouldn't that make it a bihexadecacore? Or maybe a dihexadecacore?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm reluctant to go back on my word but it seems like a Q9550 with 4GB does work.........it's picky when updating the BIOS though

I used a BIOS we have here (which is different to what you uploaded) and "fiddled" until it worked with 4GB. I haven't tried the one you uploaded but if your manufacturer sent it to you and said it works (which tbh I didn't totally appreciate before) then I suppose it will be ok..............we tried 16 before and had no luck with it - it seems to work ok or not at all

As mentioned before it's not the CPU compatability on these new BIOSs that's the issue - it is/was the bugs that go with it like RAM support.
