Hi a couple day's ago Avid released there last XP supporting Protools update.
Meaning that in about 6 months to a year Ill have to upgrade my system to windows 7, at least if I want to stay up to date on my DAW software. (digital audio workstation) and I would like to stay up to date.

So this leaves me with a few questions regarding my Clevo D901C (blackhawk xr5) currently using Intel® Core™2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz/1066MHz/8MB) and
4096MB Ultra Speed DDR2 800MHz Memory and xp pro 32bit OEM

First of all does it support windows 7 ultimate?
If so what is the way to go 32 bit or 64 bit?
How much ram can or do need to add? Currently there is 4gig installed and using 3.2 gig

Any other things I should know or consider before making the jump to windows 7.
I will probably buy the OEM version as I don't see a reason to get the so called full version as MS is advertising. MS claims that the OEM is only supported by the resellers/retailers.
Anyhow I don't really want or need the support of MS as I'm tweaking the hell out of it anyway.

Thanks very kindly for any info,

    Cheers

Windows 7 works, both 64 bit and 32 bit. If you use 32 bit will see only 3.2GB of memory. Go with 64 bit, there are no problems in general. For the video card I use the nvidia drivers from their website, while for the other devices I use the vista drivers.

Everything is supported, and you should go with 64 bit if 4 GB RAM or more.

GL with the install - should go smoothly.

First of all does it support windows 7 ultimate? YES
If so what is the way to go 32 bit or 64 bit? 64 bit
How much ram can or do need to add? Currently there is 4gig installed and using 3.2 gig 4GB=fine

Any other things I should know or consider before making the jump to windows 7. If you have driver problems, go with Vista drivers

Anyhow I don't really want or need the support of MS as I'm tweaking the hell out of it anyway. It is pretty much a do-it-yourself thing

I have been running Windows 7 since it was released as a Beta - November 2008 - and have been very satisfied!

The BIOS is not related tothe operating system. The EC firmware is related to the keyboard (the windwos button on the left).

Just make the latest updates to the BIOS and the EC/KBC firmaware
