What do you guys think about D90Xf and its core i7, is that a good solution or would you consider it. From Deviltech you will get the both machines with GTX 280M card. While all the other specs (HDD, memory ...) are same and only difference is processor:
    Clevo D90xF with i7-940 - 2,93 GHz, 8 MB L3-Cache
    M570TU(ETU) / M571TU(ETU) with Core 2 Quad Q9100 - 2,26 GHz 1066 MHz FSB mit 12MB Cache
the prize for both systems is the same (~2600 EUR). Which one of those 2 would you pick.
M570TU(ETU) / M571TU(ETU) with Dual core P9600 would be about 600 EUR cheaper and with X9100 almost the same prize as the Quad cores.

For gaming use what system of those would you recommend :)

for gaming, a system with a GTX 280M and a quad-core CPU would do the best.

The Core i7 has no competitor... so that would be best if you want to use it for non-gaming work with media ..... converting/editing/mixing/rendering.

If portability and batery life is not an issue, go with the d900f, or even better the m980

So can someone divine when the future, MXM3.0 version of the NP8662 or NP5797 will be released? :D

If so, please let me know....and sign me up for one.

I have doubts that the NP5797/8662 will receive MXM 3 anytime soon, as Clevo will be focusing on their new models and not upgrading current models. If they do make a revision to the systems, it likely wont be till Q3 '09

I doubt the two chassis would go MXM 3 until the next mobile Nvidia cards come out, which is more likely closer to or in 2010.

It will be second half of 2009. It will be a a new generation of video cards on 40nm. The one that is now is 55nm as you probably know.

We are bound to see actually a lot of cards moved to 40nm and rebranded, but hopes are high for a 192 shader core derived from the 260 GT :). Either way, I don't think we will see them until november-december 2009 and by that time Calpella will be out as well so my guess is that Clevo will make a completely new generation of light 17inch gaming laptops. It makes much more sense for them to go that path. I would count it OLED display, new design maybe similar to the 18inch beast they made now and God knows what else. So until december this year, I am pretty sure the M570ETU will be king of the light 17inch laptops. I wish they could also add the 4870 as an option, that could really spice things up with Nvidia on pricing.

I know what I am saying is more speculation, but I it makes sense for things to go that way and we can also judge from past experiences.

The 4870 actually DID spice up the nVIDIA pricing. That is why the GTX 280M and 260M are so much cheaper than the 9800's, and yet they are much faster cards.
