    Hi,

I have a four-year-old M40AE with a rattly fan which has finally gotten obnoxious enough that I'd like to fix it. I've already tried taking the computer apart - managed to get all perephial devices out, the keyboard and plate underneath the keyboard off, and the the top and bottom halves of the case to split (so it looked kind of like a sandwich with the bottom of the case, the top of the case, and the motherboard in-between) - but there's still something in the center holding it all together which I cannot determine.

Is there any chance anyone out there has ever taken one of these apart? I'd just like to be able to get to the fan for the video card (the fan unit in the center), or at least know that I'll be able to before I order a replacement for it. If not, what do you think my chances might be of getting a legitimate copy of the service manual? Who should I contact about that?

And finally, assuming I am actually able to get to the fan, where would I order a new one from? Do you think my reseller (Xtremenotebooks.com) would still be able to supply me with replacement parts for such an old computer?

I'm 90% sure the fan I'm after is the same model as the CPU fan, which I was able to read the model number from when I had the keyboard off. It's a NONOIse BS5005MB11-I.

    Thanks!

For disassembly, try pm'ing a member named Theriko, he might have access to the service manual for that system.

Thanks, Shyster1. I guess now I'll start calling around to see if anyone will sell me a replacement fan! Thanks, again.
Also, I was wrong; the two fan units are different models.

I also need a service manual for M40AE. And a new cooler! ;)
How can I post a PM?

You need 15 posts to enable PM. Otherwise, just wait for Theriko to post here~

    Thanks!
Thats why I was not able to find PM.

    One more question:
I'm searching for a SATA cable for my Clevo M400A.
Can someone help me where can I buy one? What is its part number?

Try contacting Sager, Xoticpc or Powernotebooks. They should be able to provide you with one. Not sure about the part number though...

    Thank you very much!
And I have found the part number fot the SATA cable in the service manual.
I'm searching for it more than one year ... and the answer was always: "there is no SATA cable for the M400/M40AE" ;)
