    Hi for all notebookreview users.

That´s my first post on this forum. But so recently I bought a notebook here in Brazil, the model is a Positivo Mobile V21 and it´s the same model of Clevo M540V.

A very nice budget notebook but I want to know if the 14" TFT Monitor that uses 1280x768 can do a higher resolution like 1280x800. The hardware of al M5x0V series are the same, but if I try to change the driver or is there a program that can scan the monitor to say what is the higher resolution that it can do it it will help me a lot.

So anyone knows how can I do that?

    Thanks for all.
    Regards from Brazil. :)

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

the native resolution of the Clevo M540V is 1280x768.

The native resolution of a LCD, LCoS or other flat panel display refers to its single fixed resolution. As an LCD display consists of a fixed raster, it cannot change resolution to match the signal being displayed as a CRT monitor can, meaning that optimal display quality can be reached only when the signal input matches the native resolution. An image where the number of pixels is same as in the image source and where the pixels are perfectly aligned to the pixels in the source is said to be pixel perfect.

You cannot increase the resolution higher than its native, like you can with an HDTV to get 1080i.

.... you can push the resolution (not recommended) but the text and graphics will not be crisp.

getting a few extra pixels will not make that big of a difference.

Another question is about the RAM memory.
The memory that cames installed can run at 400 but the memory is at 333.

How can I set the memory to runs at 400?

    Thanks again.

The memory speed, such as DDR400, is the max speed.

The CPU's FSB is usually what determines what the speed of the memory will be running at.

The only reason that your memory is running at 333 could be that the CPU's frontside bus is optimized for that. If you stick in a faster CPU with a the higher FSB, than the memory speed would be upto 400.

    Thanks again.
So with this CPU (Celeron M 360) I cannot run the memory at 400 speed?

probably not, you dont need to anyways, the memory's speed will give you headroom to upgrade to a faster CPU in the future w/o having to upgrade the RAM as well.

I do not believe that there is a new BIOS, do you have an issue with the notebook?
