I guess I have been living under a rock, but I just became aware of the Nvidia N8BE controversy.
I believe Nvidia has said ALL these chips are defective and all these Clevo Sager models come with these.
Searching this forum I have not got one hit discussing this.
Anyone got some feedback?

Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
That's because the M570xU doesn't use mid tier 8-series cards.

The New M570ru-u says it has a 'NB8E-SE', which is said to be the same chip across the board.
Can you show me how I can verify what you say? -
Why are we going over this again?
The old batch of Nvidia 8M series that were bad only consisted of the 8400M and the 8600M GPUs... which were denoted as G84M and G86M.
NB8E denotes that its a 8800M ... which does NOT have any known issues.
old news. -
But just saying it is old news does not help, right? -

but now you know. -
The affected chips are hard to determine at this point due to nVidia of course being conservative on the numbers and everyone that doesn't like nVidia giving very high numbers. nVidia would like us to believe it's a very low number of notebook chips in a relatively thin timeframe, while sites like Inquirer tell us practically every single piece of silicon that has ever come out of nVidia since the dawn of time is hopelessly broken and will absolutely fail.

The answer is somewhere in the middle, and I personally believe it's on the lower end. 8600M GT's made "in some timeframe" are definitely affected. My old Dell's 7900GS Go failed just before this whole story exploded. Was it one of the affected chips, or just a random act of hardware failure? Who knows. An 8800M GTX could fail tomorrow. Absolutely certain it's this exact issue? Of course not. I can tell you my Sager's 8800M GTX I got in March 2008 has been running perfectly and it's been run for many hours at a clip. -
Well my 8800M GTX has failed after 1.5 years, so it could make sense.
My 7900GS also failed after 1.5 year (Old dell Inspiron)
This is bull. nVidia sucks. Buying ATi next time. -
My 8800M GTX bought in Jan 2008 is still running perfectly as well.
