I am from Belgium and ordered my M570RU laptop in the UK.
This means I need an AZERTY keyboard, and will get a QWERTY keyboard.
Luckily, I could choose, as an option, to get an AZERTY. Now, however, it seems the keyboard might not be in by the time the laptop itself is ready. Rock, the manufacturer of the notebook, told me it would be pretty easy to install the keyboard myself.
Is there anyone out there (I'm thinking lawl'z and others) who could take a quick look at their machine and tell me if the keyboard is indeed easily replacable?
Thanks in advance guys![]()

I believe that Clevo notebooks have 4 tabs that are in each corner of the keyboard. All you need to do is push up on those tabs and take off the keyboard.
-
could you maybe take a picture of those thingies? so i can see myself?
if you do that, I'll love you forever!
(no, not in that gay way everybody always refers to!)

I'm curious to hear your results with the change up.
I'd like to know if anyone here is running a DVORAk keyboard layout on a Clevo. Swapping the keys on a Logitech G11 is easy, on a laptop, I don't know ?? But if I can pick up a drop in unit, I'd be more happy.
Worse case, can the keyboard keys be removed and reset? -
i'll get back on this as soon as i have both the laptop ad the keyboard (and if i don't forget about it, since i'll eed to wait 2 more weeks for just the laptop
)
worse case, you'll need a new kb imo -
Wanna know how easy it is?
Took me 5 seconds. That from my 5760, but should not be different on the RU.
Small flat screwdriver does the trick. 4 little tabs to push and voila!Attached Files:

I have went over this a couple of times.
Make sure the system is off. Not plugged into AC. Remove battery for precautions.
Its simple for Clevo keyboards. All you need is a basic (small) flat-head screwdriver.
There are 4 pieces of retractable plastic holding down the keyboard.
Look at the picture that I have attached.
Just push the plastic pieces gently upward (toward the lcd screen) which would retract them to release that part of the keyboard. This should only take less than 30 seconds.
After the keyboard is released, you will find a cable under it (connects to motherboard), you can remove it if you want, just remember its position.
Thats it.

@ Gophn Do you know if the keys themselves can be removed and reset, a la dvorak conversion?
Thanks in advance -
you can just do this:

Yeah, Unfortunately I'm not a "feel only" typer just yet, still in the middle of my transition from qwerty.
I use both the XP input setting change with a physical swap as well.
Not to mention I love the confused look from my friends when they sit down at my PC. -
I know some others just get some stickers.
The keys on this notebook can get removed... but its difficult to try and do it to most to all of them. -

Thank for the info, I'll see how it goes once I get started on my build. Might even photo the process in case there's an interest out there.
cheers. -
exellent info all!
let me award some more rep here
this thread will be bookmarked untill i can use it -
hey is there enough room underneath to put smd leds to make a backlit keyboard?
-
you would have to custom make a new keyboard for that... or just use a flexible USB LED light and shine it on the keyboard. -
time to make a custom transparent keyboard
. Who can I contact to get a custom made one? I wouldn't mind paying
-
seems I won't be installing the KB myself after all
apparently, 2 other people got their laptop with a UK keyboard installed, and their proper keyboards (think US and NO) sent seperately.
as it turns out, the flat cable used for connecting the Kb, is installed in such a way it's hard/impossible to connect it to the new KB
I'll let Rock figure it out for me, so I don't have to worry
(This however means I'll have to wait for 2 weeks from now ... and I was so close to getting it delivered... I just hope it arrives BEFORE I leave on holiday!)
