Clevo M570RU (np5790) an awesome laptop for sure but i am thinking should i should get the glossy or matte screen. Not sure I would like to know the advantages of glossy over matte vice versa. And i heard it has some super bright capability let me know you views on this and any other thing u might want to add. :D

Not too experienced with glossy, but I'm sure that the rumors about better color fidelity and contrast is probably true, but IMO, the current desktop monitor I have (Dell E207WFP) has good contrast and color with matte screens, plus I think I'll like the fact that glare and dirtiness won't be as much of an issue with matte.

    Matte:

Pro: It is easier to see in brighter areas, and it does not get dirty as easily. You can touch the screen without messing it up.
Con: May make things fuzzy at times, as in not as crisp as glossy.

    Glossy:

Pro: It's a lot crisper, and also a bit brighter. You can change to matte with a customized screen cover, whereas you can't change to glossy from matte unless you disassemble your notebook.
Con: It gets dirty. Fingerprints show up EVERYWHERE.

    Choose for yourself :)

    PS
I'm sitting next to two guys, who have SLI GPUs and a stock Merom 2.9GHz, and some other crazy stuff. DDR3 RAM as well. DDR4 GPU vRAM... holy crap I love working here with the notebook people :)

i am telling u i really wana go matte but God am i a sucker for crisp images i just wana know if the matte will provide good images for high res gaming and movie watching. this will be my final investment in a laptop since its upgradeable

I honestly wouldn't notice between matte and glossy, really, but this is coming from a guy that has only a matte LCD, but I still think it's "crisp", not blurry at all.

Glossy is all in the positioning. Think mirror. If there's a light source directly behind you or 5 to 10 deg to either side, it will produce glare in the form of reflecting that light. Meaning, if a ceiling lamp of any kind is behind you, it will show up as a light reflection on the screen. If a window is behind you, same thing. Otherwise they are not a problem.

One thing though, dark colors on the screen that are close to black will refect somewhat like a mirror. But not like a mirror. Or I should say like a heavily tinted window. You may notice it initially but over time you wont.

Last thing is contrast. They tend to be a bit brighter than matte so if you do heavy wordprocessing you would do yourself a favor an turn down the brightness or contrast. This is of course provided that there's no light source behind you.

I used blurry for lack of a better term. Sorry if I caused any misconceptions.

I would go glossy. For one, you have higher resolution, and for two, if you end up not liking it you can buy a matte screen cover and transform it into a matte screen.

Yeah I suppose you can "convert" it into matte, but as with anyone that's ever applied a screen protector, that is a real pain to do perfectly. Even on a PSP, which is 420 x 272 on a 4.2 inch screen, that's still hard.

I have the glossy (staring at it right now) and I have to say that reflections haven't bothered me once yet. Still, I don't plan on using this outside very often. If your needs require you to sit with bright neon lights behind you, the matte screen might suit you better ;)

Yea, the fingerprints show up, but they are also easier to clean off than on a matte screen because it's basically like wiping down a piece of glass.
