I've somehow broken the thick metal hinge for the screen on my M570RU. I was just opening the screen oneday as I normally do and one side just popped off.

The part that sticks into the laptop body (there are three metal pieces that stick into the laptop body, I've broken the thickest and longest one somehow).

It's completely snapped in half (see attached picture).

Anybody have any recommendations on what the best way to fix that is? The only thing I have lying around is 5-minute epoxy. I could goop on a lot just try and be careful when opening and closing the laptop. Can anybody think of something that would join the metal better and is easy to apply in that confined cylinder space (i.e. no spot welding)?

    Thanks!

I would recommend replacing the hinge, most vendors will supply you with one and they are easy to replace. Service manual in my sig.

RJTech is one place to get the hinge.

i AGREE.. If you try the apoxy route you will probably just end up with a big mess. We do get the odd unit in here to fix this issue and some have had attempted fixes...none with good results.

The parts are relativly cheap...order new ones!

    Thanks

    Thanks for the advice.

It's actually a Eurocom model that is still on Warranty so I've emailed support.
