A few posts here complained about relatively low WEI score of brand new Sager 5796. Especially low was "memory subscore" (around 5.0 - 5.1 max) and for Sager's 1066 MHz DDR3 it is just embarrassing. Some people immediately suggested that Microsoft was to blame and WEI is generally "profoundly inaccurate". The latter, of course, might be, but I am sure now that there is another reason. Simply put, I suspect that the chipset drivers provided by Clevo/Sager/XoticPC/etc. are outdated  .

I am generally very-very skeptical about all those "driver agents" (programs that freely scan and for money allow you to download newest drivers), but after some search I decided to give a try to one of them (for the record only: it was "driver detective", but I don't think it matters and I don't recommend to buy it either). After the scan it offered me to download (yes, I paid for this stupidity) newer chipset drivers. To my utter suprise the divers worked fine and, moreover, WEI score improved from 5.0 to 5.9 (i.e. max) for the memory. I still have to run serious benchmarks (I'll update you), but I want to share this info this you first.

As I said I have Sager 5796 with 4GB 1066 DDR3, my CPU is x9100 and graphic card (irrelevant here) is 9800 GT.

I uploaded the updated chipset drivers for Vista 64bit:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/151009970/INF_allOS_9.0.0.1011_PV.exe.html
    http://rapidshare.com/files/151009971/infinst_autol.exe.html

    Installation instructions (IMPORTANT!)
Don't click on exe files. Open cmd with administrative rights and type in each (of the two) file name followed by "-A -OVERALL" in uppercase and hit Enter.
    i.e.: infinst_autol.exe -A -OVERALL
    and: INF_allOS_9.0.0.1011_PV.exe -A -OVERALL

That's it. No reboot was necessary. Check your WEI scores now. Mine (after updating chipset drivers) are attached.

Update: Sandra CPU scores didn't change (as expected), but the memory scores improved.

I am totally puzzled. How is it possible that nobody noticed this before?

The files were obtained using "Driver Detective" (paid version). I uploaded them to rapidshare.
    "Driver Detective" screen is attached.

I assume that reboot also didn't help... Well, the only thing I can think of is that (as far as I know) chipset drivers should normally be installed on a totally fresh system, before installing any other (device) drivers.
Of course I have no idea if it will help you and I'm not suggesting reinstalling OS just to try. Maybe some other people will have better luck? I am not an expert in drivers, and even less so in chipset ones. But it did work on my system (which is nearly identical to yours, except I have 4GB of the stupid robson)

Do you have the LATEST driver and software for the fingerprint reader? It was updated a couple of weeks ago (Sager's site).

I can't even install the driver from the CD.

It claims I don't have the hardware and suggests I "plug it in"

    Just great.

    I can either:

A: Dïck around trying to restore it killing a few hours
    or
B: Use my Acronis restore and lose a few days worth of data

    Nice

Weird. And the same story with the new fingerprint driver? BTW, the one from CD had a really bad bug (memory leak).

    The driver is useless.

It will not install for hardware not present.

Somehow, the FP reader just vanished, like there is a Fn key to
    turn it off.

Zenica, I'm sorry about the trouble. To save time I would recommend to do System Restore. It will take 20 minutes and may help.

I let Acronis restore the system over night.

It is not a big deal, you wanted to help but for some reason my
system did not like those drivers.

Maybe others would have better luck with them...

Any1 else tried these drivers yet?
Any noticeable increase in performance or only in the WEI? After installing the driver, was everything recognized correctly? (PM45+ICH9-M chipset, SATA HDD, optical drive, etc)
4GB DDR3 1066Mhz RAM in Gateway P7811FX score 5.7-5.9 in WEI and the RAM in np5796 only score 5.0-5.1...interesting. If this driver can fix this issue, that would be nice :)

ps: I know Zenica had some troubles, but no1 else really commented the driver...maybe it was only an isolated event.

(I am using Windows XP so, I cant try it...I would only install Vista 64bit if this driver works 100%)

The newest chipset drivers can at any time be downloaded from intel.com. The M570TU uses the Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family drivers, so when trudging through the jungle that is the intel website, that's what you should be looking for.

Are those the drivers straight from Intel? Did you try other benchmarks to check the difference?

    1) Yes, the drivers at rapidshare are straight from Intel.
    2) I noticed only rather minor improvement in benchmarks (memory) in Sandra. All other tests show the same, or slightly (almost within the usual error margin) better performance.
    3) I did not experienced any problems with hardware, everything is recognized correctly.

But please remember that normally any chipset driver should be installed on the fresh system before any other driver installation. I took the risk and it worked fine. Zenica was not so lucky. If you can, try doing it on a totally fresh Vista 64bit install.

    I have a brand new M570TU with 4 gigs of ddr3 RAM.

First time i insalled vista ultimat 32 bit, with updated drivers, I got 5.1 on RAM. Then I tried with home premium 64 bit, and only got 5.0 on RAM.

Then i formated and did a reinstall og ultimate 32 bit in the exactly same way as first time, with same drivers (chipset etc.), but this time i only get 5.0
Everything seems fine, exept from the wierd wei score.

I got the newest chipset driver from intel...

I downloaded the chipsetdriver from intel, and ran the exe file. I did not do it as described in the first post. I tried, but it wouldn't work. I downloaded the two files, opende cmd as admin, and typed in the commandos, but it says that it is a commando that is not supported or something.

So my question is, could any one of you make a "how to do it if you are stupid" - guide :p ?

    Fingerprint reader still working though..

    (Clevo M570TU/Sager NP5796, 4G DDR3, 7200RMP HDD, Intel X9100 3,06Ghz, 9800mGT. I think we have the same setup)

I installed the files as instructed and WEI is still reporting a 5.0 on the memory. I checked the BIOS version and my 5796 came with 1.00.09, so I didn't bother flashing. Anything else I should check? Maybe uninstall drivers and install new ones in safe mode?

Boo I did this and the new Bios update and my memory went from 5.1 to 5.0..

I know the WEI score means nothing but now its ticking me off lol...

I wonder if it could be something else, the computer is on high performance while plugged in..

Also when doing hte bios update some one said to run bat1 and bat2, but for me it runs automatically and i do not know if both have run..

So why not "monkey" with WEI so that it always shows your system at 5.9 for all factors?

Um...I'm not too sure I would use that first link.

I did a search on Intel's site for that specific driver package "INF_allOS_9.0.0.1011_PV"

It's coming back with a desktop board INF Update Utility.

    See for yourself.

Since WEI is about as useful as a calibrated speedometer on a dead car sitting in the junk-yard, why not simply do the "easy" fix and re-jigger the scores by hand, as described here. That's about the only proper "solution" to WEI (other than simply disabling it entirely).

That's nice. Everyone is entitled to think what they will; however, WEI is demonstrably not a "normal benchmark" like the other actual benchmarks.

Its funny you mention drivers, as I had a similar situation with my M571RU running 4gb of 667Mhz. My WEI ram rating was 5.0, but it changed to 5.9 right after a certain windows update I installed.
I'm not sure which update it was as there was about 6 or 7 of them I installed together but I am quite sure none of them had anything to do with the chipset.

I'm not convinced this has anything to do with a chipset update, as much as an OS update. Perhaps the rating increased in between you doing a windows update, and installing those new chipset drivers?

Might be a bit repetitive but WEI in vista is WEI in vista, there will be no difference whatsoever anywhere else except that in the score you'll see 5.9 and not 5.0/5.1. If you check your speeds in sandra or other benchmark you can see the memory is ddr3 from those speeds...

I have vista installed and my memory scores 5.1 in WEI and I recently repartitioned and added windows 7 to test it out and my score there is as expected 5.9 for memory. And this is with the same chipset driver since I used the vista drivers in windows 7 too (actually most drivers are the same since i poped in the driver cd that came with the computer and updated the drivers).
