My M9800GT video card went fault, black screen on boot, so i bought a HP FX3700M of ebay to replace it, but i get a black screen on boot, but windows loads and eventually get normal operation on external monitor after windows loads nvidia drivers.

laptop LCD is black screen always, tried switching LCD via fn+F keys etc ,
and tried reseating the internal LCD conector, but still black screen on lcd.

does the M570TU normally work ok with the LCD and FX3700M ?
or is my LCD hardware faulty.

Where did you get the FX 3700m from?
    Which version is it?
    Is it an ES card?

It was from private ebay sale out of a MSI laptop, it bios version .05 but i flashed it to .10

claimed to be fully working, not sure if black screen on laptop is because clevo bios not recognize it, running latest m570tu bios v.19

I thought I recognised your userID, I believe you bought that from me, I'll happily give you a full refund on that card if you send me a message on ebay.

Can anyone confirm if M570TU will boot up with LCD screen with FX3700M installed?

Thanks for your generous offer moral hazard, but I need to do further testing, your FX3700M is working on external monitor, I have seen plenty of post on this forum with others using this card in M570TU and black screen does not seem to be an issue.

I will re test my GT9800M and see if it also boot to windows with external monitor, it originally gave me corrupt display and i then re-booted and got black screen on laptop and then unplugged external monitor and tried rebooting, I assume my M9800GT was faulty and purchased replacement FX3700M

Ideally i like laptop LCD and external monitor to be working.

Moral Hazard will be refunding my purchase, as the card is faulty, I am very happy with his fast and honest response to the problem of black screen lcd, I will re-test and even try oven baking my previous 9800M GT, and if it still faulty buy another 9800M GT or 280M GT

He did, and it was a compatible one. Plenty of users have 3700m in the m570tu and it works fine.

I thought that card was still OK? I hope your motherboard isn't damaged, @firepower

I have tried Both HP bios for the FX3700M .05 and .10 , no difference , still black LCD, voltages and clock speed are all at stock default settings.

Moral Hazard has confirmed the FX3700M is faulty, I am sure my Motherboard is ok, my 9800M GT maybe faulty , think it may need oven baking but will test again before i attempt it, my laptop is dated september 2008 and has performed flawlessly until last week when video went corrupt and then no video on LCD. I sure it the the bad solder fault that most nvidia cards eventual die of. I very happy with the laptop and dont want to replace it as it runs all my games well. This has been a learning experience, not many utilities support the Quadro cards i found, only GPU-Z, (i use windows gadgets to monitor GPU, CPU,temps and clocks etc) think i try and stay with Geforce card due to more compatibility, i only need it for gaming.

Most of the quadro cards out there can be vBIOS flashed to a Geforce.
For example the 3600m can be flashed to the 9800m GT vBIOS from your dead card.
