I am still on the neverending quest of finding my "perfect" Clevo M570U build.

I have e-mailed Matthew at DiscountLaptops, and he spoke from experience that certain types of RAM cause BSODs in the M570U: namely, Corsair XMS and (possibly) Crucial. As Matthew said:

He said that just because the company/website says its compatible DOES NOT mean that it will actually work. In other words, he mentioned that I should phone up the RAM companies before I order and specifically ask them if they have tested their RAM in this computer.

So...being in Thailand...phoning up companies in the US is a huge hassle (as is getting bogus RAM). Here's where you come in:

    1. What brand of RAM are you using in your M570U / 5760?

    2. Have you had ANY problems at all with the RAM? Lockups? BSOD? Weird windows anomalies? If you have, be specific. I don't want to incur the wrath of the RAM gods.

PS: Props to Matt at DiscountLaptops. I've never ordered a laptop from him, but he is a very honest guy and a straight shooter. Thanks Matt!

I do not think that memory matters too much in notebooks, as long a there are no errors (you can check with Memtest86+), then you are good to go.

I have used many "brands" of memory, in the most part, they were all the same in performance and stability.

Memory can only cause BSODs if and ONLY IF there are errors on it, which can easily be swapped. And in other cases, having dust on the memory contacts can cause BSODs. THATS IT.

The rest of the BSODs can be cause by many things:
    - Software bugs (BIG ONE)
    - Software incompatible with hardware
    - CPU cache is bad
    etc....

corsair does not make xms branded ram for laptops (200 pin ddr2 sodimms), they only sell value select for laptops

i currently have 2 gigs of corsair value select in my m570u (i just recently upgraded from 1 to 2 gigs)

i was a bit worried because some of the newegg reviews on it say that it's faulty (but that appears to be a problem related with macs)

i have not had any ram related problems

I bought my Sager with 512M and separately purchased 1 Gig of Corsair ValueSelect from Newegg. It's been running great since last August.

Notebook RAM is generally the same all around; timings generally do not vary at all.

You can get a 2GB kit of RAM (2x 1GB) for notebooks for less than $130 these days; check www.newegg.com. I think I saw a kit there for $115.
