Apparently, my version of the motherboard (4.1) does not support penryn processors.

Does anyone know where I could get details on how to modify the motherboard to support penryn?

    Thank you.

You can contact your vendor, they may have an upgrade path... possibly up to Montivina like we do. If you only want a Penryn CPU and utilize all your existing hardware, it would be cheaper for you to trade in the system (if your vendor does that) and get a 570RU-U system. That way no problems on Penryn or the 8800GTX/9800 GT components.

If you wanted to go to Montivina, you have more issues. Your components from your 570RU won't work in the 570TU... well, except your hard drive and wireless/BT card. The main components, the CPU, memory... even the lowly optical drive will not cross over. I bet you can find a TON of people who would sell you a 570RU-U chassis... if not let me know. I'm sure I can find some.

lol how many times do i have to say IT WILL WORK. its just not "supported" they will tell you that to cover thenselves, it WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. you buy the chip ill talk you through the upgrade takes like 10min

you can use the x9000, t9500, t9300, and anything below it. i personally have put the penryn's in the 570 with motherboard rev 4.1 all you need is a quick simple bios update and nothing more buy yourself a chip grab a tube of thermal compound (pref arctic cooling mx-2) and you can call me and ill talk you through it

Zfactor is very conscientious and if he says it can be done, that usually means, not only that he knows how to do it, but that he's done it himself. He also doesn't feed ego-baloney, either.
