    Can someone please help an old dude upgrade his gaming laptop :)

    Ok, here is the deal I have a Clevo M571TU (rebranded Zepto A17) with the following specs:

    * Core2Duo 2.53 Ghz P9500
    * 9800m GTX 1 GB
    * 4 GB Ram

    What upgrades would have the greatest impact on performance?
    I wan't to be able to play that new Battlefield Bad Company 2 game.

    What other information would you geniuses need in order to provide help? :)

    Hope you are able to help me out, Thanks :)

    first thing is to find out what graphics drivers you got installed.
    go to control panel > Nvidia control centre > bottom left system information. what drivers does it say you have loaded.

    Gpu dependant game - gtx 280m (mxm 2.1 type)
    Cpu dependant game - qx9300 / q9200 (es)
    This is if youre asking about a hardware upgrade..
    You can also upgrade the ram to 8gb (2x4gb) (but that wont affect it that much), and you can get a good ssd (x25-m g2) if you want your system to feel faster (loading, booting..).

    My advice just change to x9100 cpu as your m571tu can overclock it to 3.5ghz you will have a gain of 1ghz you will see the difference.
    A QX9300 you have to check if your laptop is compatible with, only the ETU is not the TU. A quad core will not give you much power than a dual core for games so you should take the x9100 and OC it to 3.5ghz
    For the graphic card, the difference between 9800m gtx and gtx 280m is only of 10%, you can overclock your 9800m gtx, buying a gtx 280m will cost so much for the poor gain you will have

    Hope my opinion help,

    Right on all of that.. i just listed what can be done.. but its a waste to do any of what i listed really.. your lappy is fine as it is.. if youre thinking of upgrading it would make more sense to sell it and buy a new x8100 or d900f depending on what you want..

    I've been reading that BC2 is an intense game on PC for hardware requirements. A quad core CPU would probably be the most beneficial upgrade. If your system can take a quad core, that is.

    Yeah... i might actually consider buying a new one... what would you think i could get for this one? in EUR?

    i have also heard that BC2 requires (a quad core due to the physics?)

    I think i need a M/B upgrade to be able to se a quad core in this thing... i would need to open it up to see the rev.?

    Download CPU-Z, and post what it says under the "Mainboard" tab. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

    If that doesn't give anything, then yes, opening your machine will be the way to identify mobo revision.

    CPU-Z won't give the revision number that is needed.
