    Hi,

I've bene having issues for awhile with my Clevo. Firstly it would turn off, no windows error, no minidump, nothing. Then when i turn it back on it'd get to the gpu bios or bios or past this and just to off again. To get it booting normally I'd disconnect the power brick for 10 seconds and power back on and it'd be ok.

What faulty component could cause this?

I've been living with it like that for a few months waiting for Windows 7 release and now a new symton occured last night. The colour black is showing as red/black interlaced primarily black. This occurs as POST with Bios black background showing red and in windows. All colours are affected aside from white and yellow but black changing to red is most noticeable.

Is the GPU fragged? I read on another forum that this can be caused by PSU/Powerbrick but that resolution was never tried.

Is it worth trying a laptop service? apply new thermal paste to gpu and cpu and clean the inards?

thank you for your thoughts, idea's and hoefully solution :)

When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of you notebook... namely the vents and fans.

if never... then its more than likely overheating damage that has stacked up over the years.

you can try to remove and securely re-seat the main components:
    - CPU
    - RAM
    - Videocard

also clean and re-apply some thermal compound when you are at it.
