So I have an interesting issue and was wondering if anybody has run across something similar.

I purchased an FX2700m video card for this laptop and installed it. After 10 sec it starts beeping and then shuts down 10 sec later. I am assuming it is an issue with the video card, but I wanted to see if I could get any input.

    Things I have tried:
Turning the fans to the max Fn 1.
    Re-applying thermal paste
removing memory sticks one at a time

Even when I go into the bios it will beep and then shutdown.

The only thing I know about the video card is that it was supposed to be from a lenovo laptop, however, in the bios screen it comes up as an engineering sample.

The fact that it's an engineering sample is probably why you are having trouble. A significant percentage of engineering samples have faulty/non-existent thermal sensors. The video card may be reporting bad thermal data to the motherboard which is triggering a fail-safe built into the system causing a shutdown that is meant to prevent damage from occurring in the event of a thermal failure/excursion. If I'm right then you're screwed and have to return the card and try to get your money back.

Find a 9700m gts VBIOS for it.

I just bought probably the exact card you have, and the seller said he stress tested it for 24 hours, so I have a hard time believing this one doesn't have temps sensors.
Actually it almost sounds like its overheating, which would imply it has temp sensors of some kind. Although its true they could be faulty.

Someone else has a 2700m in a m570ru and I think he wasn't getting it to boot at all...

Yea it boots and like clockwork shuts down after 20 sec. Since its ebay I'm just going to return it. He said he tested it. In his return policy he states he will not accept returns if it is a compatibility issue. Since it does post I cant see how it would be a compatibility issue.

I would try to flash the vbios, but I'm afraid of it shutting down before it finishes.

I will probably return it and go for the HP FX1600m for $80.

Yes I did, however, I sold the card and kept the computer. The LCD backlight was dead so I sort of made this a side project. I sold the x9000 and video card to cover the cost of the laptop. Bought a T5550 for $15 and was looking for a cheap video card.

Purchased a new inverter board fixed and that fixed the screen so now I'm looking at finishing up the computer.

I tested the other components with the 8800m GTX before selling it. I also have another m57ru-u I bought a while back.

What cards have been tested in the m57ru-u?

    I'm looking at an HP 8710P NW9440 fx1600m.

Those dont work as I told you in PM, here for anyone else in case they were wondering.

I have not yet tried NVflash force commands with 8700m vbios other than -4 -5 -6
