Hey![]()
I got a little problem with this lappy, when i try to connect my tv to my comp, using the DVI-out, with a DVI-HDMI-adaptor to the Tv's HDMI input. When connecting the tv, the screen on the lappy goes blank, and the tv starts acting as the primary monitor, being unable to change that with the nVidia-controlpanel. Ive tried using the Multiple screen setting, and trying to make the lappy screen the primary monitor. All that happens is that the tv goes blank and back on as primary monitor. When restarting the computer, it starts up with the lapscreen as the primary and then switches to the tv as soon as it gets to windows.
Im unable to find out how to solve it my selfReinstalled drivers, tryed orginal drivers (from 167.43 dl'ed from laptopvideo2go.com), tryed diffrent tv-inputs: 1080i, 720p, havent changed a thing

Is there anyone else out there having thoes problems or anything alike ?
Btw, the tv is a Panasonic PV60, which can recive up to 1080i input.
-
No one able to give some input ?
Really need some info about this, as im still having this lappy on trail and gotta decide pretty soon if this is going back or not... If this is just some sort of software problem, which can/will be sloved later, ill keep close to this one, else im gonna kick it back... -
I do not know what you are doing wrong... especially if you are using the stock drivers.
I connect my notebook to 720p and 1080p TVs all the time... avoid trying to use 1080i resolutions... those are finicky (use 720p instead).
I use a basic DVI to HDMI adapter.
Make sure the TV is on and switched to that particular HDMI input.
Then I go into the Nvidia Control Panel
- go under "Set up multiple displays"
Select your view (horizontal span is easiest)... its the easiest.
Your HDTV should have been detected as a secondary display and a picture should have appeared on your screen.
If not, click the "My display is not shown on the list" link
- do a Rigorous Display Detection
- if that didnt work, then check the "Force television detection on startup" option
- Restart and go to Nvidia Control Panel again.
Your TV should be detected now. -
Okay, guess I didnt make my self clear before
There is no actually problem connecting the tv to the lappy, and the picture im getting using the DVI-HDMI is perfect
My problem is, that when I connect the TV to the computer, the screen on the lappy goes blank, while my TV takes over.
So the problem is not, that the comp dosent detect the tv, as it does that. But rather, killing the lappy screen. Being unable to get that powered up again, until restarting.
When the tv is connected, the computer can still detect the internal screen, but it wount show anything, its just blank. Ive tryed numberus settings, all leaving my TV as a primary monitor and the internal screen blank. When connecting the tv, it seems as the signal, jumps from the internal connection, to the DVI-output, leaving no signal internal. The screen goes blank, as if it is loosing signal (back light still on), but after a short period it seems to totally shut down (back light turning off totally, Fn+F2 or Fn+F8 does nothing)
Atm im running on the drivers, that were on the following cd (167.43).
Ive tryed disabling the TMM as I thought, that there might have been some sort of conflict between that and the nVidia-drivers, but same result.
So all in all, I CAN connect the tv to the lappy, but that results in blank screen on the lappy, until next restart, which I cannot live with.
edit:
I found another thread, where a guy seems to have somewhat the same problem, tho there dosent seems to be a solution in that thread either.

As Chaz stats in the buttom of page one:
Are you completely switching over so the external monitor is primary and the notebook's monitor is off?
And yes, it is -
I would turn off the notebook first.
Connect all the cables to the TV and notebook.
Then power on the notebook.
It could be OS related as well.. you using XP or Vista? -
On my laptop I have the setting to turn off the screen while I am externally connected, would it be a hotkey or some hidden nvid setting?
-
when you are externally connected, the notebook's LCD is disabled by the notebook usually.
You can go into the Nvidia Control Panel and enable the notebook's LCD to make it primary or secondary... then set it to Dual View or whatever you want. -
I will test this on my 9262 when i get the chance but, in my previous laptops, i definitely had the choice to disable the notebook LCD or not.
IE, on my dell 600m.
I could be hooked up in 3 ways.
Laptop is a clone of external display
Laptop display is disabled.
Laptop has extended windows desktop and both displays active.
pressing FN+toggle external display button disabled/enabled the Laptop LCD.
Extending the desktop is a display software setting.
I will see if it is the same on my 9262. -
Im using Vista, totally forgot writing that :S
I also did you said Gophn, tryed to turn it all of and then power it up with all connections in, but that didnt work either.
But I got it solved, by messing a bit more around with it. Took it to the shop, where i bought it and it started acting up, but after a few times trying to connect it, we got it working, nothing special done, but it popped up with picture on both screens.
Well fine i thought, its working, took it home to find, that it didnt :S Well, after having seen that it DID work, that there shouldnt be a hardware fault in the lappy, I knew that there still were a chance. I set the TV to the resolution I wanted, turned off the telly, still having the laptop turned on, disconnected the cable, restarted the computer. Then pluged the cable in turned on the TV, still not switching to the HDMI-channel, went to the nVidia-controlpanel, found it had found a second screen, as i could enable dual-view, enabled dual-view, switched to HDMI-channel and wupti, it worked:S
I dont know precisly what the problem was/is, but I suspect it is some driver/vista related. -
Haha another satisfied customer
So i guess this means you wont "kick it back"? -
Hehe, nope, with the kind of performance this throws in your face, it would be a shame to get rid of it
IMO, when you invest in a computer, costing ~3.200 $ (Yes, it costs that in Denmark) it just gotta work, with out having to do serveral work arounds to get everything working
