Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

Sounds like it could be either:
    - the LCD backlight is out
(you can check by turning it on and shining a flashlight directly at the screen to see if you can see anything)
    - the LCD cable is loose/faulty/disconnected
(you can open the system to check out the cable and re-connect it securely)
    - the LCD panel itself has gone bad
(which you will need to replace... they are not that expensive, just requires some slight confidence to open it and replace it)

if you can see something when you shine a flashlight, then its most likely that the backlight of the LCD went out.

... you can still check cable if you want to see if its causing the LCD backlight problem, but I doubt it.

To get to the LCD cable in this notebook might take some confidence to remove a couple of parts under the keyboard:
1.) remove the keyboard is easy
..... Press the three keyboard latches (with a flat head screwdriver) at the top of the keyboard to elevate the keyboard from its normal position
..... Carefully disconnect the keyboard cable from the motherboard
2.) now the tricky part, you have to get to the top left area (from under the keyboard).... which will require you to dismantle the top part of the chassis.
..... which requires you to remove HDD, RAM, CPU, Optical Drive... so that you can get to the screws.

I would seriously recommend to go to a LCD repair shop to let them check out if it really is the backlight or not before attempting to dismantle the notebook to get to the LCD cable.
