I'm currently debating whether to purchase a Dell studio 15, M1530, an Asus A1, or the M860tu. The only problem is that I can't find any good pic's of the m860tu, is this it? http://www.pcmicroworks.com/laptops.htm and Has that picture been photoshopped or something because it looks much clunkier here: http://www.pcmicroworks.com/edge.htm![]()
When can I expect an M860tu NBR?![]()
Hopefully its not too late, I need a notebook by the last week of August. (Unless I get it shipped to my college, which would suck...) I have time still right?????? Those estimate shipping dates seem pretty long.
So yeah, any M860tu close ups?
-
if you might scroll down or go to the next page or *gasp* search, then there at least two threads on this already.
-
but sure I'll 'search'. -
Yeah, thats the one I was talking about... but you should watch out as it might just be a photoshop as nothing is final yet.
-
I think I saw that some where too, but the orange underside stuff threw me off a little as its a pure white and black design.
-
The orange things are the copper heat sinks

The source of those pics is here, btw.
I really like the look of this thing. Nice and sleek, no extraneous BS, and the screen hinge looks to be of high quality. As long as the thing doesn't melt as soon as you try to fire up Crysis, I think this might actually live up to the hype. I guess we'll know for sure in a few weeks. -
copper? nice, I've got some of that on my cpu. Draws out heat like an ice cube... without the water. Seems to check out with the pics taken earlier this year. So this might be the real deal. The hinge does look pretty cool. Too bad the side design on the 570 is crippled by the speakers. But better sound I guess.

(edit, i thought you wrote, "i guess i'll know (personally) in a couple of weeks)
I don't like the white stripe, but it might have to do. I don't want to be sitting in my University classroom (small school) with the loudest, most outrageous looking laptop ever.So let me know how it looks/sounds.
-
The 5793 with silver stripe (it's silver, not white) looks sleek and businesslike. The M860tu will be the same I think
-
sigh... the 5796 won't come out with silver till much later and I really don't dig the white back on the 5793 version.
-
i think theriko clarified that in this white=silver. some vendors just call it silver or white.
-
I thought it might look like one of those generic decals, you know the kinds that look out of place? But I guess that is not the case. -
Nope, it is silver plastic trim, not decals at all - photos never do it justice
And just for the record, I have silver trim with black lid(also with the Phoenix logo)
-
hey therico, are you the one that got that design from killer notebooks? who made the design? (refering to your avatar that is also a skin on killernotebooks)
-
Yup
That's a pic of my notebook (actually it's my ex 5792, I transferred it to my 5793 when I upgraded). A friend of mine drew it.
-
i have to say the one on the site does not do it justice. it looks faded there.
did your friend do it all purely in photoshop? you think i could get in contact with him just to know what techniques he used to do that? I really like it. -
It was certainly done purely digitally, I don't know what techniques he used tho

On another note, I don't know for sure if I'm even going to get one, I'll know for sure when I see a review. -
