I ordered a barebones M860TU from RJtech. I plopped in the Q9100 processor, HD, and ram. However, it won't turn on! I can't think of any reason to why this is happening. I do notice that it says Model: M860TU and not M860ETU. Could I have possibly received the older model that doesn't support quads?

The lights all come on for a moment - but nothing else happens.. no fans.. no clicking..

look at the version number of the motherboard.

it should be on a sticker near or on the RAM slots.

Make sure the Motherboard is seperated from the chassis Via the right studs, I remember installing a motherboard once booting it up and frying my motherboard because it surged through the chassis, also make sure you have the right connections for the power button on the motherboard, it should be in the manual you get with the processor

The strip says NKM860TU and then a bunch of digits. The user guide they sent me mentions the Q9000 in the CPU spec. Also, I waited 2 weeks for them to receive this and then ship it out. I don't see how they could of received an old M860TU and sent it out.

I hit the power button and some of the lights change status like its trying to boot but no fans or nothing. The only other thing I can think of is my CPU is a dud.

contact Sager and give them the serial number (since its one of their barebones).

they should be able to tell you the date and revision of that system.

the CPU or RAM can be the problem.

Jesus there are so many things, make sure all you fans, especially your cpu fan is connected to the proper slot on the motherboard or it wont start... I can't help but think that you have installed something wrong or left a connection unplugged, not that I'm doubting your prowess

It's definitely plugged in there. I finally found out that this serial # is the M860ETU. I have two sticks of ram brand new from Newegg. I'm guessing my CPU may be a dud...

Yea I wouldn't think so though you know... Umm Im not quite sure but dont you have to have special screws that seperate the motherboard from the metal of the chassis?

Well, the notch that tightens the CPU was about 7/10 of the way turned. I turned it all the way and walla! Funny how these things go sometimes....
