    Hi all,

I've noticed that the right-hand side of my spacebar is rising, like the thing is warped/warping, or the spring on the right needs tweaking. I have no idea why it is doing this all of a sudden, as it was level before. The gap is getting bigger and I don't know what to do. I have never had to mess about with notebook keys before. If I ever had trouble with a desktop keyboard, I would just buy a new one. I don't have that luxury with this. I am sure this is easily fixable, but I have no idea how I go about checking this keypad or how to get at it.

    Can anyone help?

I think the woman in the photo is the every so glamorous Uma Thurman. :)

Did you see the "laser etching on her M860TU" post that Gunsmith_Cat made?

Goph. The woman in the pic is actually me! I don't look a THING like Uma Thurman! LOL. I am flattered though! I'll have a look at my keypad issue and see if it can come out as easily as the step-by-step makes it look! (Nothing is simple with me though)!

Oh, and + rep for the helpful diagram. :)

Wow, then you have a good resemblance to Kiddo if that is your pic... seriously. :)

First off, WOW, that is a cool etching on your comp Cat!!! Now I wish I had done something fun to mine!! ;)

Second, Gophn is that diagram from the M860TU user manual? If so, I feel gypped! The manual that came with mine has very little in the way of instructions for taking things apart. Well, other than how to unscrew the panel for the 3G module. You have posted a couple other examples recently and my manual had none of those either!! I think Gophn has an inside source! :D

lol gophn :D her beauty > uma's imo. stunning eyes really. but anyhoo, just be careful with your keyboard tinkering, pulling/applying force on those delicate keys can easily damage the mechanism used for them to clip down. Though, I'm not entirely sure a new keyboard is *that* expensive.

    Sorry for the hijack!!

yup i said that sometime last year i think gunsmith in her pic is ... wow.....

just also to check underneath the space bar there are very small clips that hold a very thin metal bar that goes around the space bar make sure its snapped down to all the clips under neath it. also check to make sure one or more of those didnt snap off. ive seen it on a few systems but not this one in particular..

the buttons do come off if you are careful. otherwise gently lift up with a fingernail or even a credit card works and peak under it to see it you can see where the lifts are for the key and make sure its still connected.

Dude, how could you mistake her for Uma Thurman? Both are attractive yes, but uniquely different looking people.

How's the m860tu going for ya Gunsmith?

I have the same issue with my 5797, the spacebar is tilted down on the left.

Reseating and rubber banding didn't solve it. It's been that way since before I took it out of the plastic wrap.

I'll add my +1 for the nice picture. You might look into doing some professional photography.
I imagine your title is from the anime Gunsmith Cats?

Damn, we seem to have a similar (or the same) space bar issue then, cos that's exactly what this looks like. I'm a bit nervous about trying to take the keypad off, but I will psyche myself up to try over the next four days while I am off work. Probably on my last day though (Tuesday), as I've got some more fanfic writing to do!

A +rep just for a pic? Awww, thanks, JGZ! Lol. I love Photoshop, but all I did on that was raise brightness and contrast on a very tired pic of me after a friend's wedding when I was a bridesmaid for the first time in my life! Me in a dress? RARE!

And "yes" with regards to my handle... Wow! Somebody who knows of the Gunsmith Cats anime. My favourite anime. Rally's car (1967 GT500 Shelby Cobra Mustang - blue with white racing stripes) is my favourite car in the whole wide world! My second fave anime is "You're Under Arrest". I just love that kind of detailed Manga. I'm hoping to get to that same detailed standard with my own stuff soon. And only use Japanese-imported supplies. It makes all the difference. :)

P.S. I wanted to be a professional photographer once, funnily enough. But I'm more than happy just amusing myself at home in Photoshop. :)

    I really don't deserve it!

Maybe my space bar has risen on the right because I only hit it on the right hand side?

i'm actually experiencing something similar, although it seems the left side is dropped rather than the right rising here.. and that's nonsense, you deserve every bit of it! You have quite the wow-factor, and don't try to push that on photoshop haha

Hmm... interesting. Maybe mine has dropped on the left then. It's either dropped on the left or risen on the right! What a conundrum.
