I am looking for a new laptop, preferably something with moderate gaming capabilities, but not too big and certainly not flashy. I was thinking something with an Nvidia 950M, a decent 15" display and an SSD. Looking on Newegg, I found this Eluktronics N550RC which is in fact a Clevo N550RC. It looks promising, especially since it's cheaper on Eluktronics' own site and I get something like this:

Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core (2.6-3.5GHz TurboBoost, 6MB L3 Cache)
    2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 950M Graphics
    16GB RAM
    512GB SSD
    15.6" Full HD IPS Anti-Glare Display (1920 x 1080)
    Intel® Dual-Band Wireless 8260 2x2 AC + Bluetooth 4.0

for $1200 (base, presumably there'll be tax, but it's still reasonable). The problem is, I can't really find this machine anywhere else. Newegg and Amazon sell it and it's a real Clevo machine so I'm not worried about fraud and the like, but it's a bit surprising that it is not at any of the usual Clevo resellers (though there are Australian, French, Polish, etc. resellers that do have it). Also, there are barely any reviews of it so I'm still not clear about the points of this machine which may be problematic: the battery life and the thermal management (temperature and fan noise).

Does anyone have this machine? Or maybe heard of Eluktronics and why they sell a Clevo laptop which nobody else in the US appears to?

Have you had a look at the NP7258 with 6700HQ and 965M?

We are the major distributor of the clevo chassis in the US though there are a couple of others.

We have the N550RC in stock and have done since the beginning of the year by the looks of our inventory. We don't use Clevo designations on our website or product range, but you will find the N550RC as the Schenker F526 :)

I'm not aware of any reviews of the F526 though at the moment, sorry.

I've looked at it, but it's thicker, heavier and more expensive. In the past, I would have been willing to make that trade-off for the significantly better GPU, but nowadays I barely play GPU-intensive games at all.

Thanks, that is good to know -- although I'm looking for laptops in the US and Schenker is in Germany.

@Althernai understood and no problem (though actually I work in the UK office). I only mentioned it because you noted some French and Polish resellers stocked the chassis, just adding that perhaps on nbr XMG/Schenker is one of the more "usual Clevo resellers" as you put it to give you a little more confidence in the model i.e. we also sell it and considering the sales volume I can see there aren't any big issues with heat or battery life, which your concerns were based around :)

With the 48Wh battery I would expect 3-4 hours with the 6700HQ, more of course with the i3-6100H or i5-6440HQ if you have those options from Eluktronics.

Appreciate your interest in our N550RC! This PC is currently the thinnest and lightest Clevo chassis available on the market with a dedicated graphics card and i7-6700HQ quad core CPU. If you decide to try our N550RC and determine it does not meet your needs, we'll be happy to accept the PC for a return. We'd love if you'd post your results if you move forward as there are many like yourself seeking input regarding our products on forums.
