    Hi,

Last Saturday I got my new Clevo.
Installed windows 10, did the updates, control center etc... and it worked fine.
The next day, when I turned it on, the screen went black after the "Style Note" bios screen.
(sometimes the screen shows different colors, see images attached)

I do not hear any kind of noise, fan or ssd (the light does not blink), but the keyboard works, because FN + 1 turns up the fans speed.

I have to manually turn off the laptop on the power button and turn it back on again until it decides to boot.
Usually after my third attempt it finally doesn't crash. And it stays ok until the next day, when I turn it On again.
This happens, after being shutdown/sleep for a few hours and after the "Style Note" bios screen, or just as I enter my pass to log into windows.

I have tried many things so far, none of them worked:
    - Turn On only with the battery on, Turn On only with the charger
    - Remove all USB cables, headphones etc before turning on the pc
    - Formatting on the same ssd again
    - Formatting with another ssd that I had
    - Changing ram to another slot
    - Updating Bios (did not update EC though)
    - Cleaned and changed thermal compound
    - Remove battery, unplug power, hold power button for 60 seconds, turn on computer with power plug only, then shutdown, add battery and restart

    Model: N850HK1, i7 7700HQ, 1050 ti 4gb, 8gb ddr4 2400MHz Crucial, samsung evo 850 500gb 2.5 "
I have a genuine copy of Windows 10 Pro 64bits

Any idea what it might be?

I'd initially think the eDP cable might not be connected properly.

After than, it could (unlikely) be the panel TCON. After that you're pretty much down to motherboard/cpu. You could try an external monitor (lid closed) and see if it's still corrupted there, as that will pretty much narrow it down to be motherboard related.

You're probably going to have to RMA it.

Connected to an external monitor I get this on the login screen:

Could it still be the eDP cable?

Looks like you have bigger problems. The eDP cable just connects the internal screen, so if it was damaged it wouldn't affect the external display. That being said, if you can test with a mini-DP cable instead of HDMI that might also shed some more light as the mini-DP port 1 tends to be directly connected to the NVidia GPU rather than the Intel one.

As a last ditch, you said the Style Note logo appeared which suggests it might only be software. Can you try a Linux LiveCD or even the Windows Installer CD/USB? It may just be the installed Windows driver is corrupted.

Beyond that, you'll have to RMA as it could be CPU failure (since it's optimus, the intel iGPU is responsible for throwing the image out on HDMI and internal LCD in most cases with Clevo).

    I don't have a mini-DP cable, unfortunately I cannot test that.

I did 2 fresh installs on this ssd and another one on a different ssd. My initial thought was a corrupted driver or something.
I did use the same pen with the same windows though, but I used the microsoft media creation tool. Surely it shouldn't be corrupted

I'll try installing Linux tomorrow and hope for the best.

    Thank you for your replies

The manual is really handy @DanXbix, lot's of cool stuff in there :) thanks

So I've contacted my reseller and they told me to bring the laptop to them. I'll probably get a new replacement.
I'll update this thread when I got the new one

    Thank you

    Just a quick update.

I don't know what was the problem with my previous Clevo, but they sent me a new one and it works perfectly.
Thank you for all your the help and replies.

Likely a dead GPU, glad to hear they got it sorted for you.

If anyone else gets that on both displays contact your reseller for certain asap.
