I've had my Clevo for about a week. It runs really well and I like it. I undervolted the i7-7700HQ as soon as I got it to -85.0 but eventually blue screened under a gaming load. I typically run between 44-47C with normal browsing usage and went to something like 73-75C under load. I know 44-47 is pretty normal, but I've been trying to undervolt further to try to get better temps while browsing. However, -100.6 and -110.4 don't seem to drop temps much further for this type of usage. Is this normal? Is there any benefit to undervolting further if it doesn't change the temps much?

You should go with around -75mV by the looks of things.

hi! i have n870hp6 (just like 850, but 17'' screen), and i can san that your temps are OK for sure, but you may get a better temps simply by repasting CPU with proper thermal compound (try Gelid CG-extreme, or Thermal grizzly Cryonaut, but it's a bit expensive). You may also use liquid metal, but this is a more sophisticated stuff and i wouldn't reccomend it if you have no expirence in such stuff. Anyway, google how to apply even regular compound correctly , because it's really matters.
And for Undervolting - i'm a bit more lucky and my 7700hq holds -145 well, but there is not so big difference between -70 and -140, and it's noticeable only under load, you will not see any changes while just browsing.
What soft are you using for undervolting? I would reccomend to try ThrottleStop with making 2-3 different profiles for your needs (there is tonns of info about it, just google it or search on this forum).

Yup, I'm using Throttlestop. If that's normal for low usage temps then I guess I won't try to undervolt further.

I actually requested Arctic Silver 5 with this build... it's partially why I thought the temps would be a couple degrees lower when running non-intensive stuff. Should I expect better temps than what I'm getting?

I've found Arctic Silver 5 to be a bit too thin, especially for laptop heatsinks, which can be horrendous.

Oh, shoot. Okay. I guess I'll have to pick up some thermal paste then. Thanks! Have any recommendations?

Really, any paste will work. The more premium ones will make a difference of a few degrees Celsius, TIMs like Gelid GC Extreme or IC Diamond - or you could go all out with a liquid metal option, but they're risky (and expensive).

Yep, true. There are also very good comments on Thermal Grizzly Cryonaut and especially Phobya NanoGrease Extreme, but it's not so well-known and easy available for some reason
What about your GPU temps? Did you try to undervolt it as well?

I didn't try to undervolt the GPU; I had the impression that was more difficult to do. Any recommendations on that front?

Just install MSI afterburber and google for some instructions on how to adjust custom voltage curve (briefly, hit cntrl+f, lower voltage and repeat till stability).
Note that this thing is more for avoid throttling and less for decrease temps,,

I've found thermal grizzly to be easy to work with, resist pumping and perform well.
