    Clevo N960TF CPU Direct DIE Cooling possible?

    Hi guys,
    im considering to buy an Clevo N960TF Barebone and pair it with an i5 8400/8500 which i wanna delid

    Now i thought, is it possible to cool the cpu direct die in this barebone with sth. like Iceman ICE CPU Delid Die Guard?

    You will see better temps by delidding and having LM between die and the ihs for sure. But before you go down that road there are some things to consider. i5 8500 is a 65w cpu and most likely won't be getting super hot, so real reason to delid here would be better noise/thermals levels.
    I would start by logging temps prior delid to see if the thermals are an issue, and also to compare them in before/after.

    As per going direct die, you will need to inspect the heatsink if it has any height offsets for VRM cooling etc. As the heatsink itself might need to be modified.

    You might see worse temps after doing so, as you'll create a heatspot on the heatsink that won't spread the heat evenly. So there are plenty of things to consider like, do you actually need it? And is the temp decrease actually worth the time and effort?

    It's possible to do yes, but the gains will hardly be worthwhile given the limited consumption of the chip, and removing the IHS entirely will leave a ~3mm gap, most likely requiring a complete rebuild of the heatsink

    Yeah the Main reason to lower the temps is to reduce the noise Level
    Using an T model wohnt really help because the tdp is only for the base clock. Boot clock is not affected by the tdp.

    The Notebook will be used stationary when its used for gaming, now im considering, would the n970tf with its seperated heatsinks for gpu and CPU Are Better in case of noise Levels?

    Give Obsidian's Fan Control a go, you may be able to tweak the fan profiles to your tastes before deciding you need hardcore mods. It's paid but is worth it for the breadth of tweaking settings.

    Even if you do go ahead with mods, it'll still be a good idea as the fan curve will probably be messed up as it won't have been designed for the improved thermal solution and may need some tweaking anyway. Yoyoing up and down across a temperature threshold I find particularly infuriating, or spinning up too slowly to prevent thermal throttle, stock fan curves have done these to me on multiple Clevos

    A delid and liquid metal will get you very good thermal contact, the gains beyond it are usually minimal.

    Yeah Sounds great but i dont think that u can offer me sth like n960tf with sth like i5 8500 + 16gb RAM + 1tb nvme ssd for around 1500€ xD

    I can geht the pure barebone for 1110€ with shipment

    But i have another Question now :p

    Is it possible to undervolt the cpu and Maybe the ram in the bios? or is the bios locked af? at my actual Notebook the bios is locked af and even modding the bios didnt really help to open usefull functions
