Hi all, first post. I've been looking at the P150EM with interest as my current laptop is not cutting it for gaming. I had to downsize my "study" due the arrival of my lovely baby daughter, so my PC had to go. My current machine has a 7670m 1GB GPU and a craptastic 1366x768 screen.

My question is, can you use a lower resolution panel in the P150EM? Obviously I want an upgrade from 1366x768 but 1920x1080 on a 15.6 incher is a bit much IMO... and I don't really want a 17+" machine. Having a smaller panel will prolong the useful life of the GPU a bit too, right? :p

I have a 1080p monitor I can use if needed too

Hi daviepubman. I'm waiting for my Clevo P150EM - XMG P502 (delay caused by GTX 675MX not in stock :-( ) . I had the same "problem" - Full HD (1920x1080) is way too much for me for a 15'4" laptop (my old laptop is 1280x800 - 16:10). I checked a Polish reseller, cos they have a HD+ (1600x900) option for P150EM ( BLUEMOBILITY). They informed me that the screen is the same as in Clevo W350ETQ. I ordered my Clevo @ mySN.co.uk (I live in the UK) and they will do the replacement for me. Quote: "we would need to physically swap the panel out and install a replacement we would have to charge you £60 for this option. I realise that this upgrade cost is for a downgrade in terms of panel specification but we don't receive the HD+ in this chassis as standard". Now I'm waiting for the info from them about the screen specs.

I think the 1920x1080 screen is beautiful and doing without is a disgrace to the machine. I had a few alienwares with the lower resolution screen but this resolution is way better, you can still play at 1600x900 if you want later on.

Less than native resolution on LCDs looks rubbish though, in my opinion

I also prefer a 1920x1080 resolution but have heard it can be too small from other people as well. Windows does have a zoom function by using Ctrl + that could help if some text is too small.

I would think at least some games would have a scale-able hud, or at least be modable to enlarge text size etc. I don't have any problems at all with my 1080 15,6".

The ctrl + text zoom works very well when you want to read a lot. I even think windows has some scaling settings.

i have to agree. You can easily change the text size in Windows to make it more readable, or just zoom when needed. The effect of larger text on a higher res screen is smoother text.
Downgrading the display and paying for it is just bizarre.
