Sata or M.2?

SATA

Where did you plug it in? Only 1 of the P150EM ports are Sata 3 spec. The 860 series may not be backwards compatible to sata 2 spec.
Only the main HDD/SSD bay is sata 3 spec. The motherboard does have a 2nd sata 3 port, but there is only a connector for it on the P170em series. -

It will be backwards compatible but make sure it's fully plugged in.

I am having the same issue. The BIOS doesn't even recognize anything in the SATA port. Can anything other than making sure the new drive is fully plugged in cause this problem?

Try it in a caddy?

It's worth a shot. I have used a Samsung 850 and 470 in this NP9150 without a caddy, but at this point I'll try almost anything. Samsung hasn't put some pathetic block on these 860's that force one to use their data transfer software have they? I mean, all I want to do is put the new SSD in my computer and install the OS from scratch--just like I did with the Samsung 850 and 470...

Not that I am aware of, you could try cloning the data across and see if that helps.

Thanks for the tips. The second Samsung SDD was identified by the BIOS either. I ended up buying a Crucial MX500 and it went in without a hitch!
