Given that most 180w ac adapters are beasts, like the P150HM's, I'm looking for any recommendations of a compatible ac adapter that is lighter weight and confirmed to work, with the Clevo P150HM.

    Thanks..

You're going to be hard pressed to find any smaller travel PSU that works on the P150HM because you need a 180W adapter.

The P151HM might be able to use this 120W adapter: Kensington 120 Watt Notebook Power Adapter | Overstock.com I'm not sure how safe it is, there isn't even a ground as far as I can see.

But AFAIK there are no small or lightweight 180W adapters out there. I've tried using lower wattage and the laptop won't even "see" the PSU and will rely on battery power.

I wanted to followup with my original post, in case it's useful to anyone else. After checking out various Clevo resellers' websites to see what third party adapters they might offer for the P150HM, I noticed on AVADirect's website a listing for 2 different Prudent Way 150W adapters. The PWI-AC150LC is an AC only adapter, and the PWI-AD150HC is an AC/DC adapter which comes with both an AC cord, and a Cigarette Lighter DC cord. Both adapters come with a powered USB port for separately charging USB devices, and 12 different tips.

The white tip adapter seemed to provide the best fit for the P150HM, and both adapters need to have the outgoing voltage set before you plug it into the device. I set the PWI-AC150LC for 19V, and plugged it into my P150HM, and it worked fine. I actually was compiling my 3.0 kernel, and waited until the laptop was drawing 40+ watts from the battery, and then plugged in the adapter, and watched the battery charge increase before the compile finished.

I feel relatively satisfied that either of these adapters will work for my travel needs, although the PWI-AC150LC is slightly smaller and lighter than the PWI-AD150HC, and since I don't need DC power when I travel, I will use the LC model. They are both MUCH smaller than the stock P150HM 180W adapter, and they were able to charge the laptop while powered on, as well as when powered off. There are two things I noted.

    1) The stock adapter has an output rating of 19V and 9.47 amps. The Prudent Way adapter can be configured for an output rating of 19V, but the maximum amperage at that rate is only 7.5 amps. This would suggest that the Prudent Way adapter will recharge the battery a bit slower than the stock adapter.

    2) Also since the draw is so high, the Prudent Way adapter was very warm to the touch after using it for about 2 hours. I will keep an eye on it to make sure that's not an issue in the future.

The one thing I did NOT do, was try to test this configuration while maxing out the P150HM CPU/GPU. On my P150HM, my default configuration for the ATI 6970 GPU, is to run undervolted. I also don't game as a rule, and only have Windows 7 installed in a VM on this machine. If someone wanted to use the P150HM at a LAN party or other heavy game type of environment, it's probably better to use the stock adapter.

    Good Luck..
