I have just replaced my dead P150HM motherboard with another from eBay. The new motherboard works but currently there is no audio recognized by Windows 8.1. I've tried reinstalling the audio driver from Clevo and Realtek but there are still no sound devices recognized in Device Manager.

Does the P150HM have an on-board sound processor? Is there any chance that the sound processing chip is dead on my new motherboard?

When replacing the motherboard, I actually unplugged an audio connector jack (with several pins) that connects the motherboard with the side audio panel at the right. I have no idea if the sound processing chip is on the side panel or with the motherboard though, but I did connect the jack back on the new board.

I doubt the audio connector jack itself is effecting Windows' ability to detect the sound device. I presume it's just to connect the physical jacks to the sound chip. There is a chance connecting incorrectly could have fried this chip, but it's not like you are wiring up a 19v line to your audio jack. It's worth popping open the case and inspecting the area around the chip to see if anything looks amiss (burst components, broken solder joint, etc).

The schematics show the audio chip is on the main PCB with the ports only being on the daughter board.
