Hi all, i'm new to the forum. :hi2:

    Sadly my P150hm bought back in march 2011 today stopped working. It has a 2720QM, 12gb (4x3gb) ddr3 1333mhz and 6970M 2gb (Win 7 x64)
I've turn it on a couple of hours ago and everything was fine, then, after about 2 minutes it show a white blank screen and the only thing i can do was press the power button to turn it off (i remember that in the past years this has already happened, but after the" forced power off" everything was fine when i immediately turn it on).

After that everytime i try to power on the P150hm it only shows a black screen, i can hear the mechanical HDD that spins up, the HDD led lights up and then turn off, the BT led is always ON (strange because it was off the last time i've use the clevo) and also the fans turn on... No beep or other sound...

I've alredy tried to remove all the drives (a SSD and HDD) and two sticks of RAM, but nothing changed, black screen and nothing happens.

    What can i do? :(

    Little update:

i've tried to remove the 6970M and then power up the notebook, at this time it has emitted a single beep (like when it boots up normally)...

Hey mate welcome to NBR :hi2:

Based on your description gpu graphics card is on its way out.
I would recommend baking your card in the oven per this guide.
I know it sounds silly but it may work to reflow the solder on your gpu.

If it doesn't work then try looking online to buy a replacement video card :)

    Good luck.

Edit : i recall the black screen too when i placed a faulty 7970m in my clevo. It's definitely 99% your gpu.

    Thanks for the answer!

I will try the "oven trick".

If it goes bad I've already search online for a replacement card, but it's really hard to find one... I'm from Italy and on i've only found on ebay some 680Ms 2gb from China: Nvidia GeForce Dell GTX 680M 2GB DDR5 for clevo Alienware upgrademonkey | eBay

They are ok for the P150HM?

    p.s.
the strange thing is that in the last year i used few times the Clevo, and almost never played with it for the last 2 or 3 months...

do not buy a DELL gpu as the majority of the time they will not work as they are not compatable.

Yes, avoid any card manufacturer other than Clevo for a Clevo system. Sorry to hear about your 6990M. :(

If you do replace the GPU you can also consider the 7970M to get a increase in performance. As mentioned above do make sure its a Clevo card.

    Yes it should be.
You should also ask seller if they can flash rjtech enduro off vbios so that you don't have to follow the blind flash procedure when you receive it.

The oven trick did work! :)

I'm now able to boot up the P150HM and the GPU work fine in 3D, max temperature seems a little above the values that i remember before, 85-86° with games like Spintires (i've used MX-4 thermal coupound).

Now the problem is the replacement card...

it seems that there are new 7970M Clevo cards that doesn't work with PxxxHM laptops, no matter what bios we use...
    I've read this here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...70m-modded-vbios-clevo-p1xxhm-laptops-36.html

and, another bad news, the ebayer from my previous link seems the same "clevo-extreme" that posted in this topic: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...bios-clevo-p1xxhm-laptops-36.html#post9680963

is there any shop where i can find a GPU that is 100% compatible with the P150HM? :(

I don't think there are supplies of new Clevo 7970M v1.2 and 680M anymore, at least I can't find it. Anyways, I've gone through 3 GPU on the P150HM so I gave up and moved to the P650SE.

    Hello guys
I'm new to the forum, but I've always read your discussions about the p150hm and I've find them really helpful.
I suffer from black screen too.
Since my 6990m started to gave up on me, I used the oven trick; until I got the first black screen.
So after I asked help to a "specialist" who told me that my motherboard was dead, I bought a new motherboard from Clevo Germany and I also decided to buy a 680m with modified vbios for p150hm.
Unfortunately I'm still having those black screens :(

    Do you have any advice?
    Thank you.

Hi @Marco.G.E. - Where did you get your video card from, and which brand is it? Also, what BIOS are you running?

Do these black screens occur with any particular trigger?

Sorry about the delay! Thank you for the answers! <3 :)
@Prostar Computer: I bought it from a quoted vendor on ebay. The brend should be Clevo, but I don't know how to confirm. I'm not sure about the bios in the motherboard, but I fear that it might be an old version; when I mount a i72820qm insted of my usual i72760qm the system shuts down by itself, maybe is the 1.04 version.
I would update it but I don't know how to do it blindly, I know that it's risky. :/
@Meaker@Sager: No, just black screen from on to off.

    Thanks!!

True, as if flashing didn't already involve some risk as it is. An update might help, although it's hard to say why the black screen without knowing the card OEM. Maybe you can touch base with the seller to inquire about the card(?).

Where are you located? you might need to send the card to someone who can flash it for you, to 80.04.29.00.01 VBIOS.
