Hey all I have not been back on here in years!

Unfortunately the Clevo P150HM/PCS Vortex II 15 I bought in June 2011 is starting to show its age. Its four years old the battery is pretty much end of life, it can’t hold a charge anymore and needs replacing. My most recent issue which occurred about a week ago is the power button always being on. It’s like it’s stuck in place even though it still clicks as normal when you press it. My laptop automatically boots up as soon as I plug it into the mains. I don’t have to push the power button which does not seem to be doing anything anyway. It lights up as normal but that’s all. I can only manually shut down my computer from the operating system. Holding the power button has no effect even though in the power settings I have it set up so that it will automatically hard shut down when the power button is pressed both plugged in and on battery.

I had a 3 Year Gold Warranty (2 Year Collect & Return, 2 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour) which is no good now. Has anyone had this type of issue, could it be fixed easily maybe its dust? I would prefer not to have to pay for a costly RMA if it is something that I can fix on my own.

The top bar with the button is simply clipped on so take it off (hinge it off or push through the hole in the motherboard next to the GPU fan) and inspect it.

The button makes contact with a point on the board that starts the system, so it could be an electrical issue and not something wrong with the button. It would be best to have a look by removing that cover with the button, as mentioned above. You'll be able to see part of the board, as well as underneath the power button.

Thanks for your responses. I will take a look at it ASAP. This instant boot is annoying I cant even leave it plugged in.
