    Hi Everybody,

I've been researching on which gaming laptop to get for months and I finally settled and purchased my Clevo P170EM Laptop. I got it on Friday the 24th and I'm loving it. I've installed Windows 8 and all of the drivers and there are no issues in the device manager driver wise.

I have this Orange/Yellow light that won't go away that is the BT radio indicator. The Bluetooth works just fine as I've paired headsets and phones to it with no issues. I'm able to turn the Bluetooth on and off via the Function keys and that gives me an alert when it's on or off. But the light doesn't change. The only time that light is off is during the OS boot up or shut down.

I don't believe it's normal as my user manual said the light should be white. I have a support ticket in with the people I've purchased the laptop from but let's face it... It's the weekend and I'd like a answer now :)

Does anybody have any ideas? Is this normal?

    Thanks all!

I've also attached a image of this issue.

Are you running your WiFi with a Bigfoot card, by any chance? This is a common driver-related occurrence with Bigfoot Killer cards under Windows 8. :)

I am in fact! Killer 1201? I think? I'd have to check the specs later if it matters. I figure it was a windows 8isum if nothing else.

So what you're saying is that it's normal for my configuration and I shouldn't worry? :)

    Thanks for the reply!

I don't think it's the bigfoot - I also have a P170EM but with one of the Intel cards, not the bigfoot. I have been experiencing this same problem since installing the latest bios (EC/KBC V 1.02.12 & BIOS V 1.02.14). It does not really bother me though as I don't currently use BT. What bios versions do you have?

BTW. I upgraded the bios to fix the fans not slowing down after I exit graphics-intensive applications and running full force even after hours of idle time - and it got fixed yay!

I'll have to check after work. I bought the system last week so my guess is that it's current from the seller but I'll make sure. I tested my Bluetooth and it works just fine, just having the light on for no reason is a little off to me

Yep, it's very common, but as long as your WiFi works, then you're fine. :) You're welcome!

On the same token, I believe Sager and the respective card manufacturers are aware of this. It's really quite prevalent.

I have the same problem, also got it after Updating the BIOS (to KBC/EC: 1.02.11SA & BIOS: 1.02.14LS1).
    I have an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235.

The only workaround I've found is to change the OS settings in the BIOS from "Windows 8" to "Others", but then I lose all the UEFI options.

It looks like my BIOS Revision is: 1.02.16 and fireware revision is 1.02.12... So current? :)

I installed the driver last Friday or Saturday so I believe it's the more current one and I'm at the most current bios.

Just wondering if I missed something else.

Nope, you're fine! Hopefully it's patched in the near future. :)
