Hi, i really need to replace my old notebook and just recently saw what Dell / Alienware charges for upgrading to the AMD Radeon HD 6970 i just facepalmed.

So i guess il go for the next (and only choice?) of notebooks with similar specs and looks like i can fit this build in my budget.
    Also read the review.

Final price is 17807 NOK or 2315 Euro / 3210 USD.
For example a similar specced Apple MacBook Pro 17 Sandy Bridge CPU & RAM wise costs 20390 NOK or 2650 Euro / 3675 USD.
But that only uses a regular 750gb HDD and the ATI Radeon HD 6750m so you cant really compare it but included it so you can see how the prices are here. D:

    Any recommendations?
Because i think this must be one of the best notebooks i can buy atm.

Edit: Just realised that i could buy it from the US resellers and save some cash i could use for more upgrades.
Im pretty confident with tinkering on notebooks so unless the motherboard blows up or something i should be okay.

If you want to take the risk of shipping it overseas from the US and don't mind the shipping back for warranty, then it should be cheaper buying from the US. I believe some resellers will be very willing to test the laptop for you before shipping it overseas. I don't think you should get the new Intel SSD's their 4k random writes are just a little bit better than the G2. They mostly improved on sequential reads and writes. If you are planning to upgrade the CPU then get the 2630M, because it won't be that much of a difference from the 2720M.

A Clevo P170HM with a GTX485M is miles ahead of a Macbook Pro 17 in terms of performance.

Only downsides of the Clevo are:
Some say build quality not that great
Some say keyboard has too much flex
    2-3 hours of battery life
Average screen (you can upgrade to a better one from resellers for ~$220)

Well i only added the MBP 17 just to show how expensive it is here. D:
Also the only reason i listed Intel Core i7-2720QM is because its the lowest choice i had. xD

The stuff thats really important to me is no nonsense design, MATTE screen & driver support.
Just one question before i return to mah minecraft:
In real life, how many FPS would the GTX 485m really add compared to the cheaper AMD HD 6970.
I really gotta save cash so i can get a decent SSD.

Btw PM me if you wanna try the MC server, its a dedicated VPS so its not laggy.
But bear in mind that its just recently set up so we are kinda working on the plugins still. :D

    Will do. :D
Most of the resellers can be found on the "Sager / Clevo Reseller" thread right?

    Also thanks for fast response.

Yeah I believe almost all of the resellers are listed there. Just send them an e-mail and see who offers you the best service. :)

You will have to wait for the 6970M though. It is not officially out yet.

Np, i get my paycheck at the 20th of March so i can wait some more.
I just got kinda sad to see that Dell wanted 250 USD for the GPU upgrade so il just take another brand. :D
