Hi, I have a few question to the Win7 x64 installation on the P170HM. I actually shouldn't have to install more than:

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology for RAID controller
Intel® RST Driver Files (for version 10.1)
    Intel® INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets
Nvidia driver (latest from Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies)

The rest should get installed automatically by Win7 and if not, I will just install the driver from the original driver CD ? But stuff like the Intel 6230 Wifi + BT, Cam, Touchpad, Fingerprint, etc should get installed automatically by windows with the latest driver?

    Thanks

Everything was installed on my Clevo P150HM including the same Wifi that you are getting but I was advised NOT to download latest drivers from NVida (and the NVidia site says the same thing) because the NVidia drivers should always come from your reseller as they are context dependent on what other parts you have in your laptop.

I'm sure the Malibal guys will tell you (and me cos I am often tempted to upgrade my NVidia although I didn't get my laptop from Malibal...) :D

My Malibal won't come with an OS. On my Asus G50 they also said we should only use the stock driver.. but had no problems with any other driver :S And actually the new drivers bring a lot of changes & fixes so it would be sad if we had to stay with one driver for the next few years :p

You can try drivers from Nvidia, but most manufacturers suggest using the drivers directly from their website as they have been tested to work the best. Also you should be good with the drivers and utilities CD, that should have everything you need on it.

They may be surpassed, but for most drivers it won't matter. WiFi and ethernet driver releases are almost pointless unless you were having issues. The only drivers that make sense to update on a regular basis are the video drivers and possibly the Intel RST.

If you ordered without an OS- almost nothing will be installed by default. You'll have to install the WiFi or ethernet drivers from disk before you can even get the adapters to show up. The only drivers Windows update will reliably find are WiFi, ethernet, and video. Hotkey, webcam, sound, THX- you need to install most of these from the driver disk to get them working.

I'd honestly only worry about getting RST and video drivers new. They will make a difference on performance. The rest of the drivers on the disk will do you just fine because new releases generally don't make any difference to performance or features. The newest Nvidia WHQL drivers from the website are recommended over Beta though (as beta drivers can have serious stability issues)
