Hey guys I have been looking around for a new gaming laptop and have narrowed my choices between the Clevo P170HM and Clevo P180HM. As there is not a lot of review on P180HM i would like to ask you guys(particularly to whom owns either/both of the laptops).

Assuming, I would be using GTX580M for the P170HM or 2*1.5gb GTX560M for the p180HM and keeping everything else similar which would be the better option? Another consideration would be how is the cooling(heat) during use of the laptop and how comfortable it is to use the laptop(hand position, how comfortable it is using it after a couple of hours)

Thanks in advance for all your advice and help. Hopefully i have explained clearly my position and if you need more details please dont hesitate to ask.

Yes there is not too many posts yet from owners of the P180HM/8180 model. A few can be found in the below thread...

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo-reviews-owners-lounges/611401-official-sager-np8180-clevo-p180hm-owners-lounge.html

Of course there is a lot of posts and owners input on the P170HM/8170...

A major thing to consider is the size and weight of the 2 units. The P180HM/8180 is about 4 1/2 pound heavier than the P170HM/8170. The size difference is below...

    P180HM/8180

    12.35 LBs with Battery Pack
    17.25" (w) x 11.75" (d) x 1.76" (h)

    P170HM/8170

    8.60 LBs with Battery Pack
    16.22" (w) x 10.87" (d) x 1.65"~1.79" (h)

I would take the P170HM. With the P180HM, you have to deal the pain of getting dual graphics to work properly, while receiving little payoff, as 2x560M is barely even faster than the single GTX 580M.

The P180HM has the benefit of potentially adding a second GPU down the road. Now I know many people here will say it's bloody expensive to do so (500+ for 1x GPU ), and while I agree with that, it is still an option that the P170HM lacks.

Note that you would only benefit from adding a 2nd GPU down the road if your base GPU is 1x GTX 580m, as what Kevin_Jack stated is quite true.

not trying to advertise the some resellers well at least this one, MYTHLOGIC :: Configure Your System
has many gpu options for the PH180. not just the GTX 580m.
And imo get the PH180. Just think in the future. when your PH170 is not enough because it only has 1 gpu and you can't upgrade much better you will want to buy another notebook, that's kind of expensive.
with the ph180 you have an upgrade path. if you get it with 1gpu you can upgrade it. if you get it with 2gpus it will last longer.
if you spend a bit more now you'll save thousands in the future.
