    Hi,

I was going to order my Clevo P170HM today. But I have one final question about the screen. Do you think that the upgrade to a matte screen (17.3" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit 120Hz 3D 72% NTSC Matte Display) is worth the $200?

    Thanks ;)

That all depends on your use and your personal preference. Most will tell you that consistently long hours staring at a screen is easier on the eyes with a matte screen so that is definitely something to consider. I personally like the stock screens on the Sager units, but I also prefer a glossy screen over the matte displays as I like the color look.

Hi, well considering it comes with the NVIDIA 3D Vision Glasses Kit, I would say $200 is a great deal for this upgrade. We have this screen in stock, BTW. :)

I personally decided against the 3D screen. Reason being, it's 72% gamut. If you plan on using the 3D then by all means go for it. Also, I wanted to see for myself what the stock screen is like. Malibal's stock screen on the P170HM is a Hannstar which received very good reviews. It's about 62% gamut and is glossy.

If I decide in the future that I don't like the stock screen, I'll go ahead and purchase an AUO B173WH01 screen for around $150.00 and they are 95% gamut. The V4 is glossy and the V5 is matte.

To me, the jump from 62% stock screen to 72% gamut 3D screen wasn't worth $200 even if the 3D is 120Hz.

From what I understand the matte (V5) AUO B173HW01 are in very short supply which is why you don't see them listed on resellers' websites.

We have 17.3" mattes and glossy's on our site $120 with laptops all day long and they are 72% (Matte) 90% (Glossy). =)
