Clevo P170HM3 = 3d varient of the 8170
"Recently got certified 3d Vision by NVIDIA"
also, "latest clevo drivers are windows 6/7/8 drivers... (They really have windows 8 INF entries)"
-secret source![]()
-
Nvidia has been putting out Windows 8 (NT 6.2) entries in the inf's for a while now, since last year, it's carryover from dev.
Nice info about the 3D P170HM3, was wondering if we'd see something like that spring up. -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
The price must be insaaaaaaaaane!!
Mr. Mysterious -
Fiiiinaly. This with a 485m is gonna rock.
-
it's cool though, you derp around in the driver files all the time, modding em for us
-
I hope it'll have a FHD 120Hz Matte screen, like the G73jw/G73sw 3D.
-
can't imagine why it'd have anything less.. that'd be just dumb lol
-
Emphasis on Matte.

Oh wow, nice find..

I'm also wondering whether LG's new FPR 3D LCD displays that use polarized, and therefore passive, glasses will be adopted by other laptop manufacturers: LG Produce 3D Notebook | 3D TV Watcher
Also, does anyone think that 3D notebooks are now becoming prolific enough to warrant a dedicated section here at NBR? -
AFAIK the polarised screens tend to suffer from bleed (ghosting). Also, don't they essentialy work at half the resolution when in 3D mode?
A 3D section should probably be set up sooner or later, as for now the 3D discussions are mostly confined within the manufacturer forums. But for starters a 3D thread should enough. -
That's why I'm interested in Sony's 240Hz screens: they insert a blank frame in between the left and right frames to reduce crosstalk, or bleed.
Regarding the polarised screens, I was under the impression that the whole point of LG's FPR displays was to alleviate crosstalk but you're right about the resolution: the height is reduced to 540 lines (width remains 1920) when used in 3D mode. -
In that case I'd prefer active shutter tech.
-
The P170HM3 is up on the Clevo site.

Anyone know when this thing is gonna be released?
(I'm looking at you, retailers) -
Nobody knows which brand and model of display is installed in this P170HM3 ? maybe there is possibility to buy it separately for people who have P170HM.
-
Pman -
OMG! That's exactly what I was looking for! Just wondering if we could use 120 hertz panels on P170H.... Hopefully yes, since nobody knows when this laptop will be available.
-
OK, so on xoticpc a Ph170 standard with a GTX 485 upgrade in it is $1817.00 US ... any guesses on the price point of this !? 2000 ? 2200 ? Not to spec too much, but crap if its in the pipe I will not buy the M18x and will wait for this bad boy.
-
Well, my reseller in Australia (LogicalBlueOne), have already released the P170HM3 and pricings.
AUD to US dollars are about 1:1 ratio.
Logical Blue One - Clevo Horize P170HM-3D Notebook
I will hide in the corner, mumbling about the prices... -
I'll pass. I don't care about 3D. I'll use a V4 or V5 screen reserved for me.
-
Pre order here, although not sure if pricing etc is accurate or translatable to US/Can prices.

FULL SPEC LIST: looks like the cost jump shouldn't be too great from current p170, since you can get same options, simply add in the 120hz display....

Not interested in 3D, but I'd love to see the screen in person.
-
-
Me either. I don't care about 3D, I care about 120 hertz refresh rate. It's much more better than default 60-75 hertz.
-
-
hizzaah, first of all it's better for your eyes health. More hertz you have, less screen flickering you get, because it represents complete reconstruction of the screen image more quickly. And second is that any animation on your screen is slightly smoother. That's why many pro gamers are using old school CRT monitors which supports high refresh rate. Especially players who are playing most of all online shooters like counter-strike, to get accurate and smooth mouse movements. But now there are plenty of LCD monitors with 120 hertz, so CRT is almost useless these days.
-
Does anyone know the OEM of the 120hz screen that they are gonna use on this new variant?
-
I, for one, care about 3D. Games look fantastic.
-
-
Im not convinced about the laptop version but on a desktop they are stunning
Pman -
Will it work on the X7200? -
This is what he just told you:
"We are under NDA for the next few weeks. We can not answer your questions until then." -
i try x7200 output 3d vision and 485m sli dont work, but disable sli it work
3d vision discover can run under both sli/single(270.61)
maybe have to wait for driver update......like 480m sli i wait until 265.77
btw p170hm3 ready at terrans force http://www.terransforce.com/P170-3D/P170-3D.html -
So when will they offer 15" 120hz screen upgrades? Mythlogic? Any news on this? I don't care about the emitter, but I'd REALLY like to have my 8150 screen swapped for a 120hz version (that runs at full 1080p not 720)
-
-
I'm thinkin 560m's instead of 460m's.. -
Interesting that they list the W860CU and with a 1366x768 screen. Odd.
-
Man, 25000 Yuan is over $3.8k.
-
notice the two blank config slots? wonder what could be going there....... -
Hey guys good news! Since today Xotic.pc and Lpc-digital are offering '17.3" Full HD LED-Backlit Matte 120Hz 3D Display' for Clevo P170HM, but it only works with GTX 485M.
-
that's good news but anyone know exact model and brand of this 3d display panel ?
-
So is the Clevo P170HM with the 3D display considered to be the "P170HM3" or is there a new Clevo model coming out as well? I'm wondering if getting the 3D display would be better/equal to one of the other upgraded screens that are available. How much of a difference does 120Hz really make?
-
Here is my post where I noticed about the main difference between the ordinary 60-75 hz panels. No doubt you should go with 120 hz panel if you planing to play games mostly. I really don't care about 3D gaming, 3D movies and other stuff related to NVIDIA 3D VISION. The only thing I need is that my screen should be working at 120 hz refresh rate. So there is one thing that I appreciate about this new and fancy 3D technology, because it works only with high refresh rate panels like 120 hz and I never heard about these panels before 3D came into computer field.

120hz only makes a difference in games that need it for 3D or in high speed movies or games (granted, most people are unlikely to notice it) -
Hi all
I signed up here, though have been a longtime lurker, just to answer any questions you may have regarding this model.
I have had this model and been using it constantly for about a week now so I believe I can answer any questions and or concerns quite accurately and without bias.
So if you have any questions etc just shoot!
OH and you shouldnt be paying anywhere NEAR some of the stupid pricing I have seen around so far!!!! Buyer beware! -
