Hey guys well basically this has only happened twice in two different games, but given the amount of **** I have taken from PC Specialist I am certainly not happy.

What happened is 1 week ago I was playing CS:GO and my keyboard locked up, I was just moving in one direction. Then my PC would just shut down without warning.

This happened today in Warframe as well, same thing, Keyboard locked up then PC turns off.

So even though it's not consistently happening I would like help in finding out wha'ts wrong. Has anyone seen a anything like this?
PS: It is most definitely not my temps as they never exceed 70c.

    Thanks for reading

    Hi
What do you use to monitor temps. Most prob as you say not that but always worth checking with other software. Lots can be found in my sig below. Try core temps and hwinfo64.
Also can you post your full spec as it could be a number of things, driver, ram, hard drive etc.
Which graphics card and driver you using.
Also which warranty did you go for as if it was the basic then if it had to go back to them the courier might not be covered by their misleading cover.

Hey MrDJ thanks for the reply, Well I have tried different applications and all show great temps. It makes it really hard that it only happened twice because I can't reproduce it.

I use Nvidia driver 335.23 WHQL (The 337 Beta drivers were horrific lol)

The warranty I have is Silver, So I am covered on parts for 3 years and stuff like that.

I have just uninstalled a Beta Backlight controller for my keyboard (It shows temps via different colours) Because as it was beta it could have been interfering. I also uninstalled Hotkey, because I dont use it.

But that is the best I can do at the moment really :( I don't know what to think :/

    And here are the specs:

BTW I tried your Manual driver Installation, so thanks for that link. I have done that and removed any applications that would be running if I were gaming. Such as Backlight Controller, and hotkey. So hopefully I can get a better understanding of what going on. But can't this be caused by a power issue? I could be drawing too much power from the PSU and shutting itself off. But then again it has a battery :/

On another note, I can remember this happening before. I was running MSI Kombustor, But the Mains were NOT plugged in. As soon as I pressed Fn+1 to turbo my fans, the computer shut itself off. Would that suggest power issue?

    Thanks very much :)

firstly as you said youve got silver warranty i hope you know that it doesnt cover parts for 3 years.

the silver actually only covers courier and parts for 1 year and labour is 3 years. this is why i said in previous post as it being very misleading as my supplier covers everything for a basic 2 years.

i think you need the hotkey driver loaded so that could be something to do with it.
whenever gaming or running demanding software its always best to have it plugged into mains otherwise it could be draining power from the battery too quickly which can damage it.
my EM series laptop doesnt have the fan boost option so this is just a guess but using the Fn + 1 shortcut needs the hotkey driver loaded and it sounds like it just crashed when you used the keys.

as it turned off on battery after pressing fn + 1 i would remove the battery for a day or two and run purely on mains power to make sure the psu is working properly and to see if it turns off again.
if it does i would rma it back for a repair.

When it shuts off is it instant or does it look like a regular shutdown?

Is your battery slightly discharged when it turns back on? The AC might be cutting out.

Well yes I was mistaken, parts are only covered for a year:/. The Hotkey driver has never really been installed, I don't use it so I don't install it. But I did install for a couple of weeks and It happened twice then. Also Meaker I'm not quite sure about that as it doesn't happen too often.

and also to clarify it is turning itself off not shutting down through Windows, Just turning off.

It makes sense if it was the mains cutting off for a few seconds, and as I am gaming the battery might not have provided enough power, hence the shutdown. Does that sound like it could happen?

    Thanks for the replies guys

Yes that does happen if the AC is weak. Do you get the same thing just on AC (no battery).

I will definitely try that tonight :) I never use it without the charger anyway so I will leave the battery out or a while and see how it goes. ( My PC may be a bit wobbly as my back cover is off and now i'm taking my battery off. Both of which have the feet for the laptop lol )

I know for a fact it has turned off in the same manner due to running a GPU stress test while unplugged ( I was turning the laptop upside down so I could test pressures on the heatsink at that time )

Another note that may be relevant. This has only happened while running the mains through a Multi Socket adapter, Could this be relevant? Bear In mind 70% of the time I am not using that adapter as I move downstairs and it's never happened while down there.

So thanks again Meaker, I will let you know what happens :)

That could absolutely be part of the issue. If the multi-socket adapter is splitting the amperage, is only rated at a set amperage and/or the socket it's connected to has less overall amperage than the one downstairs, it could potentially be possible that it's not leaving enough juice for your brick to power the laptop.

The motherboard, cpu, or gpu doesn't get enough juice, down the laptop goes.

Well I haven't had any problems as of yet. And my extension lead into the mains might well be splitting the amperage with my lamp plugged in and a few chargers.

So as of now I can't see the PC causing the problem, I will continue running without battery and see how it goes for a while. But as my problem is hard to replicate I can consider this as solved, and maybe bump this thread if it comes back.

So thanks guys for the help :)
