    Hi there!

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 (fresh install), installed all the new drivers from Clevo's download center.

But 4/10 times, i get stuck after boot... My mouse still works, but i cant access the start menu or anything. Only thing to do is to shut it down, and wish that it boots well next time.

Have any of you had the same problem, and maybe got a fix for this?

    /Cheers

No reports yet. Is this happening on a clean install (i.e., no programs or updates installed yet)?

Hi, did your computer enter in windows or get lost with black screen ? If you get into windows and your mouse work but you can't acess to start menu or anything try to use touchpad or unplug mouse and plug again, i think windows 8.1 have some problems with mouses..

Yes, its a clean install. The problem happend after i installed windows chipset drivers, i think.

I have tried to unplug the mouse, but it also happens when i only use the touchpad. If i press the shutdown button the screen goes to "Shutting down", but the dots doesnt move. Its very strange.

    Where and which driver too.

Are you sure it was an 8.1 driver and not 8.0?

It was the new Win 8.1 drivers from clevos website that was released 2013/11/8. I even tried to download the newst on intels driver site, but that didnt do any difference.

I also noticed that the led light for NVIDIA graphic is on/off when this happens. I therefore updated the Intel and Nvidia gfx drivers, but no luck there :(.

I suppose that would make sense if the OS was not being loaded into RAM properly on account of funny memory. We've never seen this come up though. You might want to test on Win 8 with the old memory too so you know for sure.

Well to be fair faulty memory can cause some of the most bizarre errors.

The other option is some of the stock settings in the bios went slightly funny and by inserting new ram you force refreshed all the timing tables etc and the settings were restored.

Hey guys, sorry to tell, but the problem is still there :(

    And now theres another problem...

EVERY time i shut down, and boot up my computer it says "Resume from hibernation" in the "Style Note" boot screen, after that the computer boots, BUT completely shuts down in the middle of Windows loading screen.

When i boot up the computer after the shutdown, the "Resume from hibernation" text is gone, and the boot continues smoothly (if the first problem doesnt come up)

    HELP PLEASE :/

Resume from hibernation bc in Windows 8 and 8.1 as well default shutdown is hibernation. All your problems will be fixed by disabling hibernation. Launch command prompt as Administrator, type powercfg -h off , reboot system then shutdown and all will be fine . Let us know, pleasy if your problem fixed after this.

    Sorry about my english :p

    Thanks!

Strange that this just became a problem, it has been working fine until a few days ago.

Maybe your copy of windows was/is faulty. Try using another one if possible.
