    Clevo P170sm /Sager NP8278-Where to install second Sata HDD.

    I have a clevo p170sm-a with a 1-TB sata and a 250gb ssd. the primary sata drive has its own compartment, and according to the website and manual I can add a second sata hdd to the laptop along with the optical drive..Inshort where do I install the second sata 2.5" HDD.?

    If I remember right, you would remove the optical drive and it is hidden under there. Take off the panel above the optical bay, unscrew the one screw keeping it in place and slide it out. It should be under there, if I'm correct? Maybe someone can correct me if I'm off on that.

    You need to format new disks in disk manager but yes it only takes a second and is ready to go.

    You can't expand your current partition(s) onto another drive, but you can definitely use that to store more data onto. All you have to do, after physically installing it, is go into Disk Management, format it for NTFS, and give it a drive letter. :vbsmile:

    Yes, very important to finish that last step. Seen this forgotten too many times, and people wonder where their new drive is.

    You can create JBOD arrays. The better alternative is to re-organise your data as to where things like steam are pointing.
