Hi, I was just wondering if it would be possible to use this screen in a P177SM or does it not have a 50 pin connector? I've found a great deal on a P177SM and would like to be able to have a 120hz screen. I'm fairly certain that's the screen used in a similar model of Clevo. Thank you for your time.

So it doesn't have a 50 pin or it won't work with optimus?

Sorry, just a bit confusing is all. So there's no way I can put a 120hz screen into a p177sm? And if so, why were/are they available with 120hz screens? Sorry if I seem stupid and whatnot, just trying not to spend a lot of money on something I'm not going to be fully satisfied with.

Edit: the pages I was looking at 120hz screens were for a slightly different numbered model. Probably should have double checked that, now I feel super stupid.

If I were mean I would copy paste lol, optimus does not work with 120hz internal screens at the moment. End of story. Even in the alienware 17 which has the optimus switch the 3d version has that switch disabled and optimus permanently switched off.

So if I don't care about optimus? Or does it just not work flat out.

You could put a custom system bios on it, disable the IGP and then loose the internal display and all external outputs and have no monitors at all :p

I'm going to assume that means it won't work :p

It would work if you plugged in a USB monitor, you could avoid using the IGP or the dGPU and go full software rendering :D

That would totally not lag. I'd be able to play in 4K ultra graphics then too. :p

New question, can you put a 120hz screen in a p370sm?

If it's straight from clevo (or small direct reseller) and did not come with a 120hz display there is a good chance that the connector for it is not soldered on (not 100% sure on this), sager machines are more likely to have it.

So there is a chance, you would need the right cable too.

If it doesn't come with it soldered on would I be able to get the part an solder it on myself? Or is it not possible to get the part?

OK then. If I get it at the price I'm hoping to get it at, then it won't matter if it has the connector or not because it's a fantastic price.

The p370sm can overclock the included display so you should get at least 75-100hz out of it.
