    Clevo P180HM GPU 7970m upgrade

    Hi everyone!
    I need a help! I was tried to install a new GPU ATI 7990m in to the Clevo P180HM .
    After the pushing Power button- nothing happened , screen was black, lights were coming on, and 8 beeps sound. That is wrong? :mad:
    Thanks for attention .

    My machine: Clevo p180hm I7 2670QM -2.2/ 16Gb -1033/GTX 560m SLI/

    It might not have the right vbios, were you aware that you needed to flash it or has someone else flashed it?

    The 7970m is compatible to my knowledge, so check the vBIOS as Kevinmcg pointed out. Also, are trying to boot using the power supply? The stock 220w one should work, but if not, try a new one.

    can u hear windows booting up in the background? even tho ur display stays black it could still be possible that ur laptop is able to POST. if thats the case ull have to blind-flash a modded vbios, check the thread in my signature for details.
    if it doesnt POST correctly then there might be another problem altogether, for example a defective gpu...

    I was tried to put this GPU in to friends alienware m17r3 , and i have the same picture. Lucks like a new GPU is non working...
