Hi guys, I need your help!![]()
My heatsink on my P370EM was replaced around a year ago by Clevo when Ive sent it to them. I have two 7970m's (CrossFire) in my Notebook and the Slave one started to overheat (> 100°C after a minute).
The problem was fixed but recently, it seems to reoccur![]()
I've already re-applied thermal paste but it didn't fix anything. Any ideas what the problem could be?
I'm using the latest GPU driver (same problem appeared on the stock driver) and the standard (not modded) bios.
Here's a SpeedFan screenshot:

EDIT: According to this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...heating-problems-with-7970m-crossfire.705683/
it's a bios problem that doesn't fully power the slave GPU fan until it hits 95+ degrees celsius. Does anyone know if there's a BIOS that enables that FN+1 (-> full fan speed) feature?
EDIT 2: Is this the correct BIOS? https://biosmods.wordpress.com/p370emx/
Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

The real answer is AMD and 7970m runs hot, its the suck. 7970m ran a lot hotter than my 675mx.

Yeah - but the Master one seems to be fine. Doesnt exceed 80°C if I disable CrossFire. My previous 7970m died due to heat problems (was replaced for free by the support). :/
Is the bios the correct one? In that case, Ill try that first. If it doesnt work, I might just buy a different card :/
I dont have a 3D screen so the one I need is the standard Prema Mod v2? (the one on top)
Thanks in advance!!!Last edited: Feb 16, 2015 -

The EM slave heatsinks could be slightly convex on occasion IIRC, check what the thermal paste pattern is like. Remember also the slave GPU shares the heatsink with the CPU.

Hi,
yeah it seems like they are slightly convex, at least from what I saw when I repasted the slave GPU today.
Any ideas on what I could do? Do you think that switching to the modded bios would solve the problem?
Thanks in advance! -

You could get an SM 2nd heatsink + CPU cooler, your CPU temps will be a bit higher as a result or you could sand down the GPU cooler to a flat finish. Depending on how much you take off you might want to adjust the GPU x-bracket and add washers of a little thickness between the back of the GPU and x-bracket.
