The Clevo P375SM/P370SM models do not come with Optimus switching enabled. Though this system supports dual dGPUs, some people might still want to utilize the iGPU 4600 graphics for simple or remedial tasks when solely operating on battery power. Does anyone know (or did anyone figure out a way on the previous P370EM) if there is a way to enable Optimus for the P375SM/P370SM?

Not possible at all, if I understood all these hardware engineers thoughts on the matter the reason being is because the GPU isn't routed through the CPU to take advantage of Optimus which cuts it off on a hardware front instead of just a setting somewhere hidden away. These systems just aren't designed to be long battery life due to the configuration options and the people who want them are those that normally don't want to be bothered with GPU switching in the first place. To avoid any possible issues with GPU switching, it just wasn't implemented and one of the selling points for this model.

Thank you for the explanation. Here in the past few days, I started considering an 780m SLI option. But in the end, no Optimus killed it for me. Unrealistic on my part anyway. I really do need to maintain at least moderate mobility with my next notebook. The 370/375SM would have been a cumbersome beast for on the go.

Definitely would have been, not for the faint of heart for sure. If you need the battery life probably look at something with the 750m or 765m.

The muxing used in the engineering is absent, which is why Optimus does not function. It's not strictly a software controlled implementation. Derek hit it on the head. :)

leitmotif - hopefully you benefit all the same from a good single card setup! The new Intel chips will help some with battery life.

I think I can get away with a single 780m as long as I have Optimus switching when I'm solely on battery. I don't need 5 or 6 hours. 3 to 4 should be fine when I'm doing simple tasks. I guess if I go with a Clevo, it's probably going to be a P157/150SM. Thanks!
