The Intel core i7 6820HK throttles due to Current limit throttling (according to Intel extreme utility) and EDP Other (according to limit reasons in throttle stop)

This only happens once the GPU GTX 1070 is under load(CPU+GPU workload) but when its a CPU only work load such as CPU-Z benchmark or throttle stop bench it doesn't throttle

It drops its frequency from any set frequency apart from the 3.2ghz default so if I was to OC to 3.5ghz it would keep dropping to 3.1ghz and sometimes even lower. More information can be requested and sent.

Any help to alleviate this issue will be much appreciated? thanks

You just have to wait as me for Prema BIOS + EC combo. There is no other way and unfortunately release status is unknown for now...

Never count a different motherboard, chipset and CPU as being similar when BIOS flashing. It will result in a guaranteed brick.

The RS and SG firmware are not cross-compatible. Smart move in holding off. :vbwink:

DON'T do it! You will brick yours RS if you do this...

Yh I am definitely not going for the flash but just want to ask do you reckon a higher wattage power supply lets say 330w one compared to the default 230w one sent with the laptop will help?

It won't help as throttling is firmware based. There's no 330W with that kind of connector either.

Is this an issue with the Prema bios as well?

Nope, no prema bios have been released for it yet. Though I did hear that prema might be working on one but nothing concrete yet.

I was under an impression it was, since one of the prema partner resellers, DreamMachines, offers a prema v/bios option for a p650. Must be an error then

That might be just a vbios(GPU bios) not a motherboard/EC bios
