Does anyone know of resellers that have the Clevo P650HP6 with a non-PenTile, 4K (UHD) display? 4K versions of this model seem to be very rare and non-PenTile ones non-existent. So far, I've found:

Eluktronics ( link). It doesn't say which display this is, but on Amazon, the specs say it's an LG so it's probably PenTile. Also, this reseller doesn't seem to do the Prema BIOS mod which I kind of wanted to try out if I buy a Clevo laptop.

Eurocom offers a version with a Samsung LTN156FL02-101 which is a PenTile display. It mentions a Sharp display (known to be non-PenTile) to point out its incompatibility with GSync, but it is not available as an option. Also, I don't see a version with a 7700HQ so it's not very enticing.

Most other resellers simply don't offer a 4K display. Does anyone know any others that do?

I can't help on who does offer a 4K option in this chassis, but for reference the RGB 4K panel is the Sharp LQ156D1JW04. The G-Sync panel in this chassis is the LG LP156WF6-SPB1 - the only 15.6" Pentile panel Clevo offer is the Samsung 4K one you mentioned above, all the others are IPS or TN RGB.

Malibal does. Though I think the reseller had some poor handling of things in the past. They may have moved forward from that but I don't know for certain.

Thanks. So are you saying that the panel in this Amazon listing is RGB? They don't give a model number, but they do say:
    Display: 15.6" Ultra HD 4K LG® IPS 60Hz EDP Anti-Glare (3840 x 2160)

Thank you, I hadn't seen that one. They do offer the Sharp, but the rest of the machine is more expensive than it is at other places and, bizarrely, the best SSD they offer is the Samsung SM951. This is an old drive which comes in both AHCI and NVMe variants and I'm not sure which one they're using... and they want $380 for the 512GB version which is absurd given that the newer Samsung 960 EVO 512GB currently costs $275. I guess I could buy it and upgrade the SSD myself, but given that it's already quite expensive even without the SSD, this is not very appealing. Perhaps this is why they still have the Sharp displays left -- the rest of the machine is not competitive and the display is not enough for people to want to buy them. :)

wonder if you can fit a LQ156D1JW02 on the P650, that's a 100% adobe RGB screen

    @D2 Ultima

malibal is bad because they block negative user review in the past, have been banned from this forum

oh yeah, if you're the owner of malibal and see this post, eat a goop of liquid metal before responding

I wouldn't like to suggest which panel they are using, best bet is to ask them directly - it seems you have some other questions/concerns as well and they should be happy to answer the questions you have :)

Eluktronics' LG display is PenTile not-true-4K as well unfortunately.

I do like how Eluktronics is quick to provide legitimate actual knowledgeable responses to questions in their Q&A section.

I'm hopeful some of the newer Chi Mei / BOE 4K panels are going to be compatible with these models, G-Sync certifiable for the models that applies to, and available in matte non-touch standard-mount 0.5mm-pitch-connector formats so they don't require new lids/cables. BOE panel used in 2017 Spectre x360 15t (and apparently also the Yoga 710 in some cases, other cases were Sharp-brand), Chi Mei panel used in the new Acer Aspire VN7-593G and not yet verified to be true 4K (but hopefully is).

The loss leader explination doesn't really make sense, but good to get the info on the panel quickly :)

Clevo don't use BOE panels so I wouldn't hold out too much hope for this to become a reality, in fact some panel companieswill have exclusive relationships with laptop manufacturers. 4K in 15.6" is too much for me - there's not a huge amount of demand for 4K until 17.3" so make sure you definitely want this resolution at 15.6".

Thanks. That's actually for the N850HK which is slightly different from the P650, but I think you're right and they use the same 4K display. So basically, the one and only true 4K display that works with the P650 is the Sharp and almost nobody has that anymore (and those who do still have it for good reason...).

It's not so much the resolution as the fact that the best displays (e.g. the one in the Dell XPS 15) tend to be 4K. The 1080p one offered on Amazon is the LG LP156WF6-SPB1 which is good, but not great. I suspect the other resellers have something similar because I haven't seen anyone bragging about the color gamut of the display as many of these laptop descriptions did a few years ago.
