    Hi Folks,

Got my laptop yesterday after repairs and I noticed that the CPU clock is kind of pinned to the max turbo frequency but there's no unusual CPU usage and it hovers on 7-10% constantly. The application shown as using this CPU cycles is SYSTEM.

I am at a loss as to find where this is originating from and us causing my CPU and motherboard temperatures to rise. This is fairly fresh install and not a lot of software has been installed.

    Regards
    Asanka

Are you using an external monitor, by any chance?

We've also seen the Windows update service in Win 10 cause this. Do you have updates pending?

No external monitor attached. And I've disabled/stopped windows updates service. Still the same even after several reboots.

I am thinking of doing a fresh install as there's nothing much on this at the moment. Motherboard was replaced by my reseller and I updated the drivers yesterday.

You wouldn't believe what I found as the culprit for this issue. So did a fresh install of windows 10 latest drivers and updates installed. Nothing else on the system, CPU is idling nicely.

Then opened up CPU-Z and HW Monitor and saw the CPU was not going to idle. Even a single one of these two are enough to keep the CPU pinned to the max clocks.
