    Hi there,

I was looking for a new gaming laptop and it seems that the Clevo P650SE / Sager NP8651 suits my needs perfectly. However, I wasn't yet able to find a reseller who propose an option for a 1080p FHD IPS display, at least in the US. It's available on some euro shops. I just had a chat with Xotic PC staff, and they did confirm that this option isn't available, and they have no plans to make that option available in the future.

So, any luck on your side ?

Done and Done :) I bought a Sager years back (when pctorque was still around - showing my age) and it was the best laptop I have owned. I am really excited to be getting back into another. I took advantage of the cloud storage as well. I always worry about my PLEX collection going poof after I have spent countless hours ripping it.

Xotic (sager) changed to IPS LG matte, i bought a LP156WF4SPB1 which is certainly the one you'll get since the LP156WF4 SP B1 is mass produced on the oppsite of other LG matte ips screens that are tailor made for other manufacturers.

    it's a good screen ;).

Nice! I have been checking daily for three weeks for something like this. I don't know why, but the MSI GS60 never really appealed to me even though spec'd out the price is not that far off. I feel like the form factor of something that thin just can't cool well. The 8651 is thinner and lighter than most gaming machines, but not insanely so.

I really was not interested in 4k since this is for work and hotel gaming. Too many corporate apps are 10+ years old and I am sure they don't scale to 4k. I have literally been going around everywhere looking for a balanced machine. This is the best balance I have found. I can't wait.

If it really is the LP156WF4SPB1 screen is the 35ms response time something to be worried about? I love the fact that they are offering new IPS screen's but concerned the high response time will lead the ghosting/blurring when gaming.
Wish there was more info as to what exact screen it is.
Any idea what the best IPS 1080p screen is available with good response time that we can DIY.
I wouldn't even mind a TN panel as long as it's very good or at least much better than the stock panel.

Yes, and that's why I will ALWAYS avoid IPS screens. 35-50ms to me is just too scary when compared to 2-6ms of TN panels. I don't know why the future seems to be IPS panels when they are worse for fast-paced, high-action games. I know some people are going to come here and tell me that I'm wrong, but the honest truth is, lower response times ARE better than higher response times.

I don't think you're wrong at all and I hope others don't claim as such either. The truth is that TN panels have lower response times and are well suited to games. There are some misconceptions about what response time actually is, but even considering that, TN is always going to be faster, which is better, as you say.

My next laptop will likely have an IPS panel. Why? Like many people, I got started in computers when I was younger and I'm older now and my usage patterns are different. I use my computer more for productivity-related tasks where I'm more likely to be happy with the better color accuracy than response times. To be fair too, I'm not saying gaming is for young folks only, as I still wish I could game all day. :) I'm just pointing out a scenario where one might desire an IPS panel and I think it's becoming more common.

I hope that there continues to be a choice and both models are offered. I don't particularly desire a pure-IPS world either because there is a significant drawback.

IPS panels are starting to speed up a bit and with a 75hz G-Sync panel you should be pretty set with gaming as time goes on, hopefully they get it working with optimus in some form at some point.

Actually I would argue that Optimus is worse for gaming, since with Optimus you can't overclock the screen refresh rate but without it you can.

Optimus is not really for gaming as such, it's more to extend battery life. That is a trade off it makes, but what I meant is hopefully g-sync or similar is extended to those models.

Looking to order one soon, but I am curios to see if any one has anything to say about the 15.6" FHD (16:9) Anti-Glare Matte-Type Sager IPS Screen (1920x1080) (LG Brand) option that is now available on XoticPC. Thanks.

Generally it gets better reviews than the stock TN panel that is on the computer.
