Hello. I have a Sager 8677s , used it for about 2 years. It was configured with one m.2 850 evo and a 2.5" 850 evo . There is a second m.2 slot that is unoccupied. I bought a 960 evo ssd for use in the laptop.
    I am on 1.05.07 bios.
Here are issues i encountered :
    1. Laptop sees 960 ssd and i was able to install win 10 on it when its in the Slot 1
    2. When 850 evo m.2 is in the Slot 2 the bios doesnt see 960 evo at all in Slot 1
    3. Does this laptop support use of two m.2 ssds in both slots 1 and 2
    4. There is no issues with the 2.5" 850 evo in sata III port , bios and OS sees it

My current m.2 850 evo ssd has win 10 on it as well . And with both ssds in the slots 1 and 2 , bios only sees 850 evo and 2.5" evo but not the 960 evo in slot 1.

Also , when installing windows on an ssd , do you need to unplug all other drives in the system , finishing win installation and then reinserting all the other drives back ? I thought the system can support of up to 4 drives , two m.2 and two 2.5" ssd/hdd . Is it an issue of one ssd being m.2 sata and one being pci-e/nvm ?

    Thank you.

Bonus question : how does everyone format their ssds ? Quick format option on the win 10 install screen sufficient enough ? Or secure erase ?

You can't use an M.2 SATA and M.2 NVME at the same time. The system only supports both M.2 slots in use if they are both SATA based.

You could look to get a thin M.2 to SATA adapter and use the 2nd 2.5" bay.

What do you intend to do with the SSD afterwords?

Have an m.2 ssd as an os drive and a sata ssd as a data drive. Using them for a few years now . Wanted to wipe them clean and reinstall all the programs again . Just to get rid of all the unnecessary files and bits of data.
