Hey guys!
Just bought my first Clevo laptop config and I am very pleased so far. Except for one thing. At a certain fan speed one of the CPU fans are making a rattling/clicking sound. I have used the laptop for about 4 hours and have only heard it twice so it must be at a specific speed that the rattling appears.
I bought the laptop without OS and hard drive and have spend hours to install everything so I really don't want to send it back. Can I buy new fans as a sparepart for my computer?

Maybe the fan is scratching something, some cable or something like that.
If you open the unit and check if the fan is clear of touching anything and maybe even disassemble the fan, clean it up, reassemble it im sure it will go away.
It might even go away after some days of use, but without listening to the noise it´s hard to tell.
Can you upload a audio clip for it?
Pressing FN+1 to speed it up and then FN+1 again to speed it down might help you reproduce the noise.Prostar Computer likes this. -

Yes, this.
If the fan needs to be replaced, see if your seller is willing to ship a replacement to you and have you ship yours back, or purchase the fan outright if that's not an option. -
Do note that buying a fan like suggested here lands it out of warranty with the rest of your notebook. So if your pc has 3 years warranty that new fan will have 1. You'll need a warranty exchange to keep warranty going. Good luck!

Thanks mate! But I am starting to think that I will return this laptop. Now the gpu fan is strange to and is spinning up and down all the time. It sound almost like formula one car pressing and releasing the gaspedal. Its spinning up for one second then back to normal and repeating this behaviour all the time.

Are you running the automatic fan profile?
You description sounds like you are in overclock fan profile.
Also check if you have the correct control center driver for your model.

I think I installed the wrong control center version from the start but now I have the right one, I am using a custom profile with my own settings. But you are right, it does not seem to do the same in automatic mode,
Here is how it sounds, http://www.filedropper.com/20161231154337 -

Custom profile?
Manual mode sucks, dont.....
Uninstall control center, shutdown laptop, press FN+D and whithout letting go press power button. It will reset bios.
Now install control center using my app (find it at the P870DM3 driver thread).
Use automatic fan profile.
If you have a 6820hk or want to undervolt use throttlestop.

Yes using the custom option in control center. But I shouldnt use that then? Because I guess its the same as manual? It was just that the laptop got so nice and quiet using this one
Automatic makes more noise
I have the 6700HQ and a geforce 1070.
But I will try your app then, thanks alot for all your help! Really helpful! Happy new year! -

The custom profile speeds up and down too fast... You will learn to hate it.
Use automatic and if you want a bit more silence undervolt the sucker.

Hi again!
Maybe I am just blind but I cant find your app.
EDIT: Found it and installed everything. Awesome job with that application. Works really well. But I still find the automatic fan curve to aggressive, it starts to spin up at low 45c on the processor and gpu. But if the custom profile is bad I guess I will have to live with this
Had an Asus G750 before this and the comparison gets kind of unfair since its so much more quiet.
Should I use High performance or automatic in Nvidia control panel? Is the computer more quiet when setting it on automatic so it uses discrete gpu when browsing and such?

First you should notice that your laptop can work in Discrete and in MSHybrid.
Discrete will use ONLY NVIDIA card - This option is the one you want for gaming since you can have G-SYNC only in discrete
MSHybrid will use Intel HD card also - Ideal if you are running on battery or if you are just working, browsing, anything but gaming, less noise, less heat, no G-SYNC.Jaxione likes this. -
How does it work if I got High performance set in Nvidias control panel and Mshybrid in Clevo Control center. Will Nvidia setting override Clevo setting?
So when using MSHybrid Gsync will always be off?

So when using MSHybrid Gsync will always be off? -> YES
High Performance in NVIDIA control panel does not override the CLEVO settings, think of CLEVO settings like a hardware switch, that changes the routing, the NVIDIA Control Panel is only about performance, which gpu (if both available) should it prefer.Jaxione likes this. -
Thanks a lot for the info.
Very pleased with the laptop so far, only the to aggressive fan curve that bothers me a bit, othwerwise its great

Hi again! Read somewhere that fans got better in an bios update, do you know where I can find the latest bios for the P670RS model? Think I found it on your homepage,
I have version: 1.05.4 on bios and 1.05.02 on EC. Is that the latest? -
John@OBSIDIAN-PC Company Representative
Latest is 1.05.5 BIOS / 1.05.03 EC
You can download it in our website yes but the boot will have our logo and bios strings, this might void your warranty! You should ask for a BIOS update where you bought it. -
I think I have an original clevo bios. Only logo I have when starting laptop is Stylenote. Doesent clevo provide some kind of default bios?
-
Thanks
Can I ask them directly for a newer one? Or how can I get it? -
